This pliers looked used the yellow handles were dirty I almost sent them back but I wanted to finish a necklace and used them. The work fine just not what is in the picture above. I got no pretty purple handles on mine.
I'm surprised this product has such a high rating. This is an item that was highly recommended by my long-time best friend who had been beading for many years before I started... At first I thought this was just the living end of the greatest tool on earth, at least until a few years ago.
I had designed a glass pearl necklace and after awhile I realized the strand was getting longer because the wire was slipping. How was that possible? I'd tugged to test the crimp - well time seems to take its toll. I spoke with some bead shop owners and other designs who said yes, it makes a beautiful product most of the time, but it wasn't just me. They said if I wanted to continue to use it, be sure to use it and another crimp which seemed wasteful to me. I no longer use my magical crimping pliers - rarely if ever. I've also had times where the bead as it's crimped kind of damages the wire similar to other descriptions on the reviews. It's a great product in theory, but long-term I'd recommend using a standard crimping plier and crimp cover.
What can I say? This tool has been a lifesaver for me. Still consider myself to be a beginner, so I haven't mastered crimping to my satisfaction. This tool changed my beading life! It will quickly pay for itself, as I won't need covers anymore.
Looks pretty and very useful - if it works
This is an amazing tool.
I am new to jewellery making. I bought the .014/.015 inch magical crimping tool, and tried it on Soft touch 0.014' wire. It didn't work too well. The beads would slide very easily (I used the resulting "crimps" as 2mm beads in other designs!). Then I bought the plier to crimp 0.019" dia. wires and tried it on Soft touch 0.019" as well Soft flex extreme 0.019 wires. It worked amazingly well on both of them. I love the look of the crimps, and it saves us the trouble of adding crimp covers. I don't know how it'd work on Beadalone 0.018 dia. wires. I think it is better to use the tool for the upper range of the diameter it is recommended for.
I'd recommend this product, but be very careful that these pliers can be used only on a specific diameter wires. Also, one has to be careful not to damage the wires while crimping.
