Beautiful Reversible Components
By Anon From SoCal on May 21, 2018

I almost didn't buy these because of the other review stating they were too soft, but decided to take a chance on them during one of Artbeads' recent sales and I'm so glad I did. They ARE soft and I don't know how they'd fare long-term as a bracelet component, but I used them in earrings and they were just perfect. The nice thing about these is they're 2-sided and therefore can be reversed for a contrasting pair of earrings with a lovely effect. I wanted to dangle heavier stone beads from them, so I opted to lightly tap them with a hammer to harden them up a bit. I wouldn't recommend using a metal hammer or you'll flatten them, but if you have a small pounding block (I use the "Bench Block Helper with Steel and Nylon Blocks" sold here on Artbeads) and a nylon head hammer (or even rawhide mallet) then all you need to do is put one of these hearts link components on your block, lightly & evenly go tap-tap-tap with your hammer, then flip it over and go tap-tap-tap, and voila-- your previously soft component has become hardened--one of the cool things about working with sterling silver. Then I ran a polishing cloth over them (I'm a huge fan of the Sunshine brand yellow polishing cloth) and shined them up beautifully and the result was gorgeous and much more durable. In fact, I liked them so much that I've re-ordered them. Again, maybe not the best for bracelets or weight-bearing necklaces, but for earrings I found these to be just right. I hope this helps you in your purchasing decision :)

Do not recommend
By tinysarge on January 20, 2016

This heart link is quite lovely, but also quite flimsy. It is very thin and is easily bent. I cannot think of an application it would be sturdy enough to work in. Artbeads has a silver-plated version (FIND-1751) that I am going to try, hopefully with better results. I do love the look.

These are really pretty. Can't wait to pair them with Swarovski hearts to make a stunning pair of earrings.
