Watering the Flowers

Create a brick stitch watering can using the PDF Diagram below. You will be increasing and decreasing the stitch throughout the rows. Start with a ladder stitch at the base of the watering can (row 1). The row numbers and arrows on the diagram indicate which direction you are stitching for each row.

Watering the Flowers PDF Diagram

Use the PDF Diagram to make a brick stitch flower bushel. Start with row one on the diagram and work your way up. Then, weave your thread back to row 1 and add rows 14-19 to this end of the bushel (if you have your PDF Diagram printed out, turn it upside down once you're ready to work on rows 14-19).

Add a new thread to the watering can and stitch a silver-plated ¾-inch pin back with 2 holes onto the back. Repeat for the bushel of flowers.

Bead Weaving Basics: Starting, Ending, and Adding Thread

Cut a length of 4x2.5mm diamond cut silver-plated brass crimped oval cable chain approximately 2 3/4-inches long. Stitch one end of the chain to the top of the spout of the watering can. Make sure to stitch it from the back, so the end of the chain hides on the back of the pin. Repeat with the other end of the chain and bushel of flowers.

Cut a length of 4mm silver-plated brass round disc chain approximately 3 ½-inches long. Stitch one end of the chain to the spout of the watering can, below the first chain. Repeat with the other end of the chain and bushel of flowers.

Cut a length of 2x1.5mm silver-plated brass petite cable chain approximately 4 ½-inches long. Stitch one end of the chain to the spout of the watering can, below the second chain. Repeat with the other end of the chain and bushel of flowers.
