Checkerboard Swarovski Crystal Green and White Bracelet
designed byCheri Carlson
Approximate Size6 3/4 Inches
This design is full of sparkle and elegance. Every bead in it is genuine Swarovski Crystal.
Swarovski's stairway beads are full of urban beauty. Pair those beads with a sparkling green color that the Pacific Northwest is familiar with and you have the perfect representation of Seattle our very own Emerald City. Tall skyscrapers stand with lush evergreens, while droplets of rain add sparkle to every part of the city. These elements are all perfectly represented by the rectangular facets and rich green shine of the stairway beads and the glistening sparkle of the Crystal rounds and bicones. Learn how to make this bracelet and carry a piece of the Emerald City with you always.
Lay out your beads in the pattern shown in Emerald City Diagram PDF before you start stringing them. The Swarovski 10mm Dark Moss Green 2-hole stairway beads have a different facet pattern on each side. Make sure the facet patterns are facing the way you want.
Cut a two-yard length of thread and thread on a needle. String two Swarovski 3mm Crystal Faceted Rounds onto the thread, followed by a Swarovski 10mm Crystal faceted round. Add another 3mm Crystal faceted round and bring the thread back through the 10mm round and the two 3mm rounds after it. Make sure you leave a long tail in your thread and add a bead stopper to the tail. String on a Swarovski 5mm Crystal faceted round, followed by a 3mm Crystal faceted round. Next, you will string on 13 stairway beads and 12 Swarovski 3mm XILION Dark Moss Green bicones in an alternating pattern. Refer to the above PDF to see the alternating pattern and to know which stringing hole of the stairway beads to use.
Add a 3mm Crystal faceted round to your thread. String on a 5mm Crystal faceted round, followed by 13 3mm Crystal faceted rounds. Bring your thread back through the 5mm Crystal faceted round and add another 3mm Crystal faceted round.
Add two 5mm Crystal faceted rounds to your thread, followed by a Swarovski 3mm XILION Crystal bicone. Then, take your thread through the open stringing hole of the stairway bead that matches up with the pattern in the PDF. Add another 3mm Crystal bicone and two 5mm Crystal faceted rounds, followed by another 3mm Crystal bicone. Bring your thread through the next stairway bead. Continue this pattern until you reach the 5mm Crystal faceted round at the other end of your bracelet.
Now you are going to go through the entire bracelet with your thread a second time, creating knots in certain places for extra reinforcement. Refer to the PDF to see where we knotted our thread. When you get back around the bracelet and to the beginning, weave the two tails into the beads until they meet, then tie them together. Weave the excess tails into the beads and trim.
Repeat step two for the next half of the bracelet. For half of the pattern, you will use stairway beads that are already part of the bracelet. Refer to the PDF to see where to add new stairway beads. Repeat steps three through five to finish the bracelet.

Nice choice! All or most of the products needed for this project are shown
below with quantities. Sometimes we sell out of components and aren’t able to order more from
the manufacturer (we know, it is very disappointing to us, too). Use the opportunity to mix up
the design and make it yours by substituting similar products or altering the entire color
scheme—it’s up to you!
