Dakota Stones donut pendants are an eye-catching focal for any jewelry design. You may be wondering how to showcase these unique pendants in your designs. While you can simply wrap silk ribbon around them, Artbeads Photographer (and resident wire-wrapper) decided to create custom wire bails for these pendants. One features a simple wire weave with a messy wrapped loop at the top and the other incorporates wire wraps with TOHO seed beads around the pendant itself. She used Artbeads Designer Wire for both examples.
Cut a 36-inch length of 24 gauge Hot Pink Artbeads Designer Wire. Fold the wire in half and make a wrapped loop at the fold (in other words, the fold will form the loop and you will wrap one half of the wire around the other half for the coil of the wrapped loop).
Cut a 12-inch length of 20 gauge Antique Copper Artbeads Designer Wire. Fold the wire in half. Leave about a half of an inch for the loop and then make a section of wire weave long enough to go around the donut. We will demonstrate how to make the wire weave in the next steps.
Nice choice! All or most of the products needed for this project are shown below with quantities. Sometimes we sell out of components and aren’t able to order more from the manufacturer (we know, it is very disappointing to us, too). Use the opportunity to mix up the design and make it yours by substituting similar products or altering the entire color scheme—it’s up to you!
