Multi-colored scarab bracelets were popular in ancient Egypt, so I decided to follow that theme for this woven design.
Scarabs of every color are on parade in this beautiful beaded bracelet. Crystal scarabs in amazing jewel tones stand out against dark fire-polished beads. This bracelet is perfect for dramatic bohemian looks and would look great layered with other pieces. Learn how to make it and add a Scarab Parade to your style
Cut a comfortable amount of FireLine to work with, thread on a needle and then add a stopper bead, leaving enough of a tail to use later for the button closure. If you begin to run short on thread, add a new length.
Thread the needle through the 12mm scarab bead in Crystal Metallic Sunshine head first. Then, add five fire-polished 2mm beads in jet bronze Picasso. Go through the tail end of a 12mm scarab bead in Jet, then add five more fire-polished beads. Thread the needle back through the gold scarab head first. This will make a loop with the beads. Both scarabs should be facing the same direction. Run your needle back through the five existing fire-polished beads and the existing Jet scarab tail first.
Add five fire-polished beads to thread, followed by an Amethyst scarab bead head first and five more fire-polished beads. Thread the needle through the previous Jet scarab bead tail first to form another loop. Run the needle through the next existing fire-polished beads and the existing Amethyst scarab bead head first.
Repeat this figure eight weaving to add all of the scarab beads. After the Amethyst scarab, we used a Crystal Silver Night scarab and then an Emerald scarab. Then, we repeated the color pattern. We added one more Crystal Metallic Sunshine scarab. Your thread should be exiting out of the tail of this bead. Do not trim the thread, we will come back to make the loop for the closure.
Go back to the tail at the beginning of the bracelet and remove the stopper bead. Add five fire-polished beads, a 3mm faceted round in Jet, and an 8mm faceted round in Jet. Add one TOHO 15/0 bead round in shiny jet black to the thread, then go back through the 8mm round. Add five more fire-polished beads then loop through the Crystal Metallic Sunshine scarab. Circle through the button you just made to reinforce. Tie off the thread by weaving it out into the bracelet and knotting here and there.
Go back to the other end of the bracelet and use the tail on this end. Add five fire-polished beads, a 3mm Jet round and 13 more fire-polished beads. Go back through the 3mm Jet round. Add five more fire-polished beads to the thread and circle through the Crystal Metallic Sunshine scarab. Circle through the beads in the loop you just made to reinforce. Make sure the thread is exiting out of the closest fire-polished bead to the Crystal Metallic Sunshine scarab.
To add 3mm Jet rounds to the heads and tails of the scarabs, add a 3mm Jet round to the thread and run the needle through the next group of five fire-polished beads. Add another 3mm Jet round at the head or tail of the next scarab, depending on which side of the bracelet you are working on. Continue around the bracelet until all of the gaps at the heads and tails of the scarab beads have been filled by Jet rounds. Tie off and trim threads.
