A lovely enameled component from Gardanne Beads pairs wonderfully with colorful seed beads and silk ribbon in a bead embroidered focal that's sure to catch the eye. The fun part about this piece is that the cut-out design allows your chosen bead backing to shine through, adding to the overall design Meg Mullen designed this necklace for the February 2016 issue of Bead and Button Magazine. Place the Gardanne Beads teal enameled brass pinwheel link onto a bead backing of your choice. Keep it in place by sewing up through the bead backing and out of one of the small cut-outs on the outside edge of the pinwheel. Add a TOHO 8/0 seed bead and a TOHO 11/0 seed bead to the thread. Go back down through the 8/0 seed bead and the bead backing. Reinforce the stitch for extra security. Repeat for every small cut-out in the pinwheel. The beads should keep the link in place.
Nice choice! All or most of the products needed for this project are shown below with quantities. Sometimes we sell out of components and aren’t able to order more from the manufacturer (we know, it is very disappointing to us, too). Use the opportunity to mix up the design and make it yours by substituting similar products or altering the entire color scheme—it’s up to you!
