With a fabulous peacock Czech glass button as inspiration, Cynthia created a bead embroidered masterpiece This necklace boasts all the colors of a proud peacock thanks to bright silk ribbon, an Artbeads Designer Blend featuring Swarovski Crystals in the perfect hues, seed beads, and even lovely bead caps from Gardanne Beads. With step-by-step instructions, you can easily create this piece and add a Peacock Dance to your style.
Use Gem-Tac permanent adhesive to glue the Czech glass 33mm round peacock blue, aqua, and green with gold paint button to a piece of bead backing and allow to dry.
Using Swarovski 4mm round pearls in Petrol and pearls from the Swarovski 4mm Crystal Mix Fuchsia Forest Designer Blend, create a two-seed-bead backstitch around the button, making sure your Petrol pearls line up with the blue in the button and the green pearls from the Blend line up with the green in the button.
Create another row of two-seed-bead-backstitch around this row using Swarovski 4mm XILION bicones in Graphite AB2x and green bicones from the Blend, following the same switch from blue to green as the first row.
Create a third and final row of two-seed-bead backstitch using TOHO 8/0 bead rounds in permanent finish galvanized starlight.
Trim the backing, making sure not to cut any of the threads sewn into the piece. Then cut a piece of black Ultrasuede to match your focal. Attach the backing with a row of TOHO seed beads using the brick stitch technique.
Stitch the Angel Findings antique pewter small filigree bail onto the back top of your focal. ,
Creating the Dangle For Below the Focal
Add two beads from the Blend onto a 3/4-inch 24 gauge sterling silver eye pin and make a simple loop at the top of the beads. Attach a Swarovski 13x6.5mm briolette pendant in Chrysolite Opal to one end using a sterling silver 3.80mm open jump ring. Add a TOHO, two beads from the blend, and another TOHO to an eye pin and make a simple loop at the end of the beads. Attach this link to the other end of the first link you made. Repeat this step two times for a total of three dangles. Feel free to switch up the pattern or number of beads used to create the look desired.
Add these dangles to the loop of another eye pin. Then, slide two TOHO seed beads onto the eye pin, followed by the Gardanne Beads peacock blue enameled brass small tulip bead cap and the Gardanne Beads peacock blue enameled brass small bellflower bead cap. Add another TOHO to the eye pin and attach to the Swarovski rhodium-plated posy filigree with Fuchsia and Rose crystals by making a wrapped loop.
Link two 3.80mm jump rings together and then stitch the top jump ring onto the back bottom of your beaded focal. ,
Creating the Necklace Strands
Cut a length of jewelry wire approximately 23 inches long. Slide a sterling silver 2x2mm crimp tube onto the wire, followed by a 925/10 silver-filled 6mm 18 gauge open jump ring attached to half of the sterling silver 16mm round with flower toggle clasp. Bring the wire back through the crimp tube and crimp in place.
Add one TOHO and 1-7 beads from the Blend to the jewelry wire strand. Repeat for a ten-inch beaded section. Add four TOHOs to the strand, then slide the bail of your beaded focal over these seed beads. Repeat your bead pattern on the other side of the focal. Add a crimp tube and a 6mm jump ring attached to the other half of the clasp. Bring the wire back through the crimp tube and crimp in place.
Slide a 4x4mm sterling silver crimp tube onto one end of a hand-dyed high tide turquoise, lime, and light mocha silk ribbon with dark turquoise edges and then loop the end of the ribbon around the 6mm jump ring at one end of your necklace and back through the crimp tube. Secure the crimp tube around the ribbon by pinching shut with chain nose pliers.
Slide your ribbon through the bail on your beaded focal. Add a crimp tube to the end of the ribbon and loop around the jump ring on this end of the necklace. Bring the ribbon back through the crimp tube and pinch the crimp tube shut.

Nice choice! All or most of the products needed for this project are shown
below with quantities. Sometimes we sell out of components and aren’t able to order more from
the manufacturer (we know, it is very disappointing to us, too). Use the opportunity to mix up
the design and make it yours by substituting similar products or altering the entire color
scheme—it’s up to you!
