This tutorial will help you to add a seed bead bezel around a cabochon using the peyote stitch.

Step-by-Step Instructions Expand All Steps

After gluing the cabochon onto a backing such as felt or bead backing, Create the first row of beads using the Two Seed Bead Back Stitch You will need to end up with an even number of beads in this row. Run the thread back through all of the beads to reinforce them.

Add a bead to the needle, then skipping a bead, go through the next bead along the row of the back stitch.

Repeat picking up a bead, skip a bead and then through the next bead. Continue all the way around the piece.

When you get to the end of the row, go up through the first bead of the Peyote stitch row.

Then, pick up a bead and go through the next bead.

Repeat picking up a bead, then though the next bead and so on. Continue all the way around the piece. By pulling the thread, this will allow the beads to gather around the edge of the stone.

If you would like to stop there, just go through the rows to reinforce and then make a knot in the back.

If you want to add another row with smaller beads, just repeat from step 2 through 6.
