To start the brick stitch focal, make a ladder stitch using 17 TOHO Treasure 11/0 matte dark copper seed beads. We are starting with the base of the sled and working our way up. We will add the silver bottom of the sled later.

Use our PDF Diagram to continue the brick stitch, increasing and decreasing the stitch as needed. The second row will increase on both ends. Weave your thread over to the appropriate bead in the second row to create the third row. Increase the fourth row on both ends. You will add an extra red bead at the foot using the ladder stitch. Continue referring to the PDF Diagram to complete the rows.

Now we will start to embellish the sled with a tip and a silver bottom. Weave your thread so that it is coming out of the sledder's green mitten in the second row. Add a dark copper seed bead and go down through the next seed bead over to make the tip of the sled. To add the silver to the sled, create small sections of the brick stitch on the bottom of the sled, referring to the PDF Diagram. Weave your thread so that it is coming out of one of the groups of three silver seed beads. Start a brick stitch to make the bottom silver row. Use the ladder stitch to create the full length of the bottom row, attaching to the silver sections above where possible. Secure and trim your thread.

Bead Weaving Basics: Starting, Ending, and Adding Thread

Attach a 2 3/4-inch length of sterling silver light cable chain to the seed bead at one end of your focal using a sterling silver 3.0mm open jump ring. Repeat on the other side of your focal.

Attach a 5mm sterling spring ring to one end of your bracelet using a jump ring. Attach another jump ring to the other end of your bracelet.
