Sorting multi-color strands is my favorite way to make the colors
Small gemstone beads from Dakota Stones create a beautiful Color Play in this delicate necklace. The colors stand out wonderfully against the soft gold tones. Feel free to play around with other gemstone colors to make this design suit your style.
Sort your Dakota Stones ruby zoisite 3mm faceted rondelle beads into four color groups: bright green, dark green, ruby, and multi-color.
Slide a bright green rondelle onto a gold-filled 1-inch 24 gauge head pin with ball end and make a wrapped loop at the top of the bead. Repeat for a total of two bright green dangles.
Slide a multi-color rondelle onto a head pin and make a wrapped loop at the top of the bead. Attach this dangle to a 4.5mm gold-plated 21 gauge open jump ring. Repeat for a total of two multi-color dangles.
Slide a ruby rondelle onto a head pin and attach it to one link of 5x2mm satin Hamilton gold-plated figure eight chain by creating a wrapped loop. Slide a 6mm faceted round in Fuchsia onto a head pin and make a wrapped loop at the top of the bead. Slide a fire-polished 2mm bead in matte metallic flax onto a head pin and make a wrapped loop at the top of the bead. Slide a multi-color rondelle onto a head pin and make a wrapped loop at the top of the bead. Attach these three dangles to one jump ring. Attach this jump ring to the jump ring attached to the figure eight dangle. This will be your focal dangle.
Cut a length of jewelry wire approximately seven inches long. Slide a 14K/20 gold-filled 1x1mm crimp tube onto the end. Bring the wire back through the crimp tube to create a small loop and crimp in place.
Add the following bead pattern to the wire:
Three dark green rondelles
One gold fire-polished bead
Five dark/bright green rondelles
One bright green dangle
One gold fire-polished bead
Four bright green beads
One gold fire-polished bead
One ruby rondelle
One multi-clor dangle
Seven ruby beads
Focal dangle
Make a mirror image of the bead and dangle pattern on the other side of your focal. Slide a crimp tube onto the end of the wire. Bring the wire back through the crimp tube to make a small loop and crimp in place.
Cut a two-inch piece of 14K/20 gold-filled 26 gauge half-hard round wire. Add a gold fire-polished bead to the wire. Attach the wire to one end of your beaded strand by creating a wrapped loop. Make a wrapped loop at the other end of the bead. Repeat two times, attaching each new link to the last link. When making the wrapped loop at the end of your third link, make sure to attach it to a 5 1/4-inch length of chain. Repeat this step on the other side of the beaded strand.
Cut a two-inch piece of gold wire and add a gold fire-polished bead. Attach it to one end of your necklace by creating a wrapped loop. Attach a gold-plated 7mm split ring to the end of the link by creating a wrapped loop. Repeat on the other side of the necklace, this time attaching the Beadalon gold-plated mini lobster clasp to the end.
Slide a gold fire-polished bead onto a head pin and attach it to the spring ring at the end of your necklace by creating a wrapped loop.
