Cheri created a menagerie of style with these cute critters These charms and pendants feature a pronged bezel setting on the back of each one. You can fill these settings with scraps of leather, fabric and ribbon, as well as other materials. Get creative and see what materials you prefer peeking out behind these cute animals Add them to finished necklaces and bracelets for quick style.
Cut two squares of the Leather Cord USA 10-inch 20mm metallic pearl leather strap to fit inside the bezel on the back of the sterling silver elephant pendant. Insert one square with the color facing down, so that it peeks out behind the elephant on the front of the charm. Place the other piece on top, with the color facing up. Fold the prongs down to secure the leather.
Cut a piece of the Lillypilly Designs 4x8.5-inch plain Montauk Ultrasuede sheet to fit inside the bezel on the back of the sterling silver giraffe pendant. Use yellow KO thread to stitch a TOHO 11/0 frosted dandelion bead round onto the top right corner, so that it looks like the sun.
Cut a piece of the same suede used in the Giraffe project (or another chosen fabric) a little bit larger than the inside of the bezel frame on the back of the sterling silver Dolphin charm. Cut a piece of hand-dyed high tide turquoise, lime, and light mocha silk ribbon the same size and stitch it to the fabric using light blue KO thread. You can also use the thread to make wave-like stitches in the front of the ribbon.
Cut a piece of suede (or other fabric) a little larger than the inside of the sterling silver turtle charm. Using the same piece of silk ribbon from the dolphin project, cut a piece the same size as the suede and stitch it to the fabric using dark olive KO thread. Use this thread to also make seaweed-like stitches in the front of the ribbon.
Nice choice! All or most of the products needed for this project are shown below with quantities. Sometimes we sell out of components and aren’t able to order more from the manufacturer (we know, it is very disappointing to us, too). Use the opportunity to mix up the design and make it yours by substituting similar products or altering the entire color scheme—it’s up to you!
