Get inspired by the Mediterranean with the gorgeous colors in this herringbone bracelet. Cynthia used seed beads from an Artbeads Designer Seed Bead Blend to create this beauty and added in some Matubo MiniDuo beads. Step-by-Step Instructions Expand All Steps

Create a 12-bead ladder stitch for the first row of the bracelet. See our PDF diagram to help you get started, as well as our basic flat herringbone stitch tutorial video. Your rows will be 12 beads wide and you will create a color-blocked pattern with the Artbeads Mint to Be Designer Blend. Here is the pattern you will use:

Two opaque turquoise beads
Two opalescent turquoise beads
Four opalescent mint beads
Two opalescent turquoise beads
Two opaque turquoise beads

When you get to the end of the first row, the tails of the threads will be coming out of the bottom of the beads at both ends of the row. Flip the row so that the threads are exiting from the top of the beads.

The next row will begin the herringbone stitch. Add two opaque turquoise beads to the thread and bring the needle down through the second to the last bead in row one, as shown in the PDF above. These two new beads will set on top of the two beads below in row one. They will make a V shape as you pull the thread. Continue the row, following the color pattern from the first row. Add another row following the same color pattern.

For the fourth row, add two opaque turquoise beads and two opalescent turquoise beads as usual. Then, use a Matubo MiniDuo 2x4mm bronze 2-hole seed bead instead of two opalescent mint beads. Add another MiniDuo, and then continue the row with two opalescent turquoise beads and two opaque turquoise beads. Repeat for four more rows.

Make the next five rows with only seed beads following the same color pattern.

Repeat steps 4-5 four times, then add five more MiniDuo rows and three seed bead only rows. With your thread exiting out of the third seed bead in the last row of your bracelet, add a Mint to Be seed bead, followed by a 8mm faceted round in Mocca, and a Miyuki 11/0 round seed bead in opaque metallic bronze. Come back through the crystal and the 8/0 seed bead and down into the next seed bead in the row. Loop through these beads several times to strengthen the button you just made. Repeat this step on the other side of this same row.

On the other end of the bracelet, make sure your thread is exiting out of the third seed beads in the row. Add a Mint to Be seed bead to the thread, followed by 21 11/0 seed beads. Bring your thread back through the 8/0 seed bead and then through the next seed bead in the row. Loop through these beads several times to strengthen the loop. Repeat this step on the other side of this same row.
