Whether you grew up in the 60s or just wish you did, this mixed material hippie chic necklace is just the thing for you!
Braided Suede Strand Step one: Attach a 9mm sterling silver open jump ring to the cherry wood sun engraved pendant.
Step two: Cut a 21-inch piece of SWAROVSKI ELEMENTS smoked topaz synthetic suede yarn with 3mm smoked topaz crystals, SWAROVSKI ELEMENTS golden synthetic suede yarn with 3mm crystal golden shadow crystals and SWAROVSKI ELEMENTS olive cotton yarn with 3mm olive crystals. Braid these three strands together. Slide the pendant onto the braided strand.
Step three: On one end of the braided strand add a 4x4mm sterling silver crimp tube and a 9mm sterling silver jump ring. Fold the end of the braided strand over the jump ring and thread it back through the crimp tube. Flatten the crimp tube with a pair of pliers. Attach a 9mm jump ring to the loop side of the sterling silver 5-petal large flower toggle clasp. Connect this jump ring to the jump ring on the braided strand. Repeat to complete the other side of the necklace this time use the bar end of the clasp.
Czech glass and seed bead strand Step one: Use a sterling silver 2x2mm crimp tube to attach a 27-inch piece of ZambaPro™ 49 .019 jewelry wire to a 4.60mm sterling silver open jump ring. For help using crimp tubes please visit the Handy Tips section in the Learning Center. Onto the jewelry wire string a random pattern of Czech glass flat barrel green stone beads, round 8/0 gold-lustered green tea TOHO beads and triangle 11/0 gold-lined crystal AB TOHO beads to a length of 24½ inches. Use a 2x2mm crimp tube to crimp the jewelry wire to a 4.60mm jump ring. Connect this strand to the jump rings on the toggle clasp.
Silk ribbon strand Step one: Cut the hand-dyed silk yellow with gray blend ribbon and the SWAROVSKI ELEMENTS brown cotton yarn with 3mm brown pearls to 31-inches. Twist them together. Slide on a 4x4mm sterling silver crimp tube and thread them through the 9mm jump ring at the toggle. Fold them over the jump ring and thread it back through the crimp tube. Flatten the crimp tube with a pair of pliers. Repeat for the other end of the ribbon strand.
Hemp strand Step one: Cut a 46-inch length of 1mm hemp. From one end measure 12-inches, tie a double knot, add the red half flower stoneware tube bead, double knot, space 3½ inches, bayong wood oval bead, double knot, 3-inches, double knot, red 5mm round glazed porcelain bead, sunburst design wood bead, red porcelain bead, double knot, 2¾ inches, double knot, orange flower stoneware tube bead, double knot, 2½ inches, 5mm tropical feathers square glazed porcelain bead , hand-dyed silk yellow/gray blend bead, tropical feathers porcelain bead, double knot, 11-inches.
Step two: Add a 3x3mm sterling silver crimp tube. Thread the hemp through the 9mm jump ring at the toggle, run the hemp back through the crimp tube and flatten with a pair of pliers. Repeat to finish the other end of the necklace.
