This is a demonstration for the letter "F". You can use similar techniques to create any letter you like. The final product was approximately 3 ½ inches long. You can modify the length of your wire to adjust the outcome of the letters. We began with a nine inch length of wire. Straighten the wire with nylon jaw pliers. About two inches from the end, use your chain nose pliers to bend the wire back until the two ends of the wire are almost parallel. | | About a ¼ of an inch from the first bend, using your round nose pliers, create another bend that goes in the opposite direction of the first (out and away). Bend the tail of the wire so that it rests at an angle under the initial bend. | | At the point in the tail of the wire that falls directly under your first bend, use your chain nose pliers to create a V that will be the bottom of the heart. The tail should now be running back up toward the start of the wire. Using round nose pliers, make the other bend at the top of the heart to finish the design. Trim any excess wire and flatten with your nylon jaw pliers so the heart lies neatly together. |
| | To make the cross bar, cut a two inch piece of wire and create spirals that go in opposite directions on each end of the wire. Use the nylon jaw pliers to flatten the wire where needed. . To secure the wire letters to the scrapbook cover, we simply sewed them onto a fabric square, which was in turn glued to the cover of the book. |
