Wild West Lampshade Instructions Designed by Cynthia Kimura
This adorable lampshade is a project you can do with your child for their room. Our designer's daughter is really into horses, so they made this Wild West lampshade together!
Step one: You will need a lamp from a local department store and some fabric trim with loops. For the shade, help your child apply a thin line of Quick Hold Craft Glue around the bottom edge of the shade and press the fabric trim firmly onto the glue. We recommend that you cut the trim after applying it to the shade so that you are certain the measurement is correct. Repeat the same process with the top of the shade.
Step two: While the glue is drying, Attach jump rings to all of your charms and star pendants. You can work with your child on this step as well. Do not close the jump rings yet.
Step three: When the glue is dry, attach the charms to the loops of the trim. We alternated resin stars, sterling western charms and fine silver-plated pewter star charms. We have lots of great options for charms and dangles. You can even string a few beads on a headpin and create a dangle for the shade. Use your imagination and work with your child's creativity to come up with something that is uniquely yours. How many charms you will need depends upon the trim you have chosen and how busy you want it to look.
Step four: Use the craft glue to apply square Swarovski flatback crystals along the trim oriented in a diamond shape. Flatbacks are a little fussy to work with, so we recommend that the adult do the work with them unless you are not too particular about where they end up!
Step five: Decorate the base of the lamp with Swarovski flatback rhinestones in a simple pattern that will not distract from the shade.
