 | When it comes time for your wedding, make sure you pay attention to every little detail. We made this pillow for Maggie and Sam's ring bearer. We found a plain white pillow and spruced it up by adding ribbon, shells, charms and a carabineer style clasp to securely hold the rings. What ring bearer wouldn't love carrying this pillow down the isle?
Step one: Center the red ribbon on the white ribbon and tie the two pieces onto the pillow just like you would wrap a gift. Make sure you tie it in a double knot.
Step two: Cut two links of chain. Slip the large heart shaped clasp into one link. Use the red ribbon to tie a knot around the other link, securing it to the pillow. Now you have a secure place to hold your rings. The carabineer type clasp will make it easy to get your wedding bands off during the ceremony.
Step three: Cut the chain to get four whole single links. Using a 2-½ inch head pin, attach a shell to each link of chain using a wire wrap on a top-drilled bead. For detailed instructions on how to make a wire wrap on a top-drilled bead please visit the Handy Tips section of the Learning Center by clicking here. Modify the demonstration by using the headpins and simply snipping off the flat end. Now you have four shells to dangle on each corner of the pillow. Using a needle and thread sew the chain link with the shell to each corner with a few small stitches.
Step four: Cut one more link of the chain to get a whole link. On a sterling silver eye pin, string a 6mm Swarovski pearl powder rose. Finish with a wrapped loop. For instructions on how to make a wrapped loop, please visit the Handy Tips section of the Learning Center. Attach the wrapped loop to the link of chain. Using a jump ring add the starfish charm to the same link. Center this decorative accent on the front of the pillow in the center of the ribbons. Use a needle and thread to sew it to the pillow. Make sure that your stitches go through the ribbon and the pillow so it is nice and secure.
Note: This chain is very beautiful for this pillow but if you find it too expensive you can use the following components as an alternative: silver plated chain (SPCH06) or an 8mm sterling silver heavy closed jump ring (SS-CJR-HH).
Approximate cost: Under $60.00 (Price includes the higher priced chain. You will have leftover chain and shells.)
