Our travel journal is a wonderful keepsake and a fun Mommy and Me project. Make one before a vacation to take along with you, or afterwards to document your special moments. Adding charms and beads to match your theme make it one of a kind.
Step one: Cut three pieces of cardstock, to a size you would like your journal to be. Ours is approximately 6x3 inches. You can do more pages if you wish. We used pre-cut tags that we found at our local craft store. We used decorative paper to cover each side of the card stock using 1/8 inch Terrifically Tacky Tape. Stack your pages and punch a hole on the left side for tying the book together later and clip the left hand corners.
Step two: We named our journal Summer 2008 and on the inside cover and made a place for journaling our events using a felt tip marker. On the following pages, lay out your photographs.
Step three: Decorate your journal with charms, colorful beads and fun fibers and ribbons. We chose a cute frog, dragonfly and shell charm for the front cover along with Swarovski flatbacks. And more charms, beads and hotfix rhinestones for the inside cover; Quick Hold Craft glue works well for this. For the inside of the cover we used 1/8 inch Terrifically Tacky Tape and then placed the rhinestones and beads along the tape. For the photo pages we chose embellishment fibers and more rhinestones to add color and detail.
