Thanksgiving Journal Instructions Designed by Cynthia Kimura
Our Thanksgiving journal is a wonderful way to share thanks as a family. We made a place for each family member to write down something that they are thankful for. You can add photos as well, including a picture of the whole family on Thanksgiving Day. Start a new tradition and add journal entries each Thanksgiving, giving your family a keepsake to treasure year after year. We chose paper, trim and sayings from our Scrap Pad To Go Brookfield pattern and purchased plain white card stock for journaling at our local craft store. You may use any fun and festive fall paper you like. We decorated our journal with pretty Czech glass leaves, and ribbon and fibers in bright autumn colors. We chose some sterling silver charms with messages of home and family to add sentiment, and for more color we embellished our pages with Swarovski hotfix rhinestones. Decide how many journal entries you need, we fit two per page, but three to four per page would work as well. This will determine how many pages to make for your journal. The paper sheets in the scrap pad to go are 12x12 inches. You can make your journal any size you like; we made ours 8 1/2 x 11 inches. The paper is patterned on each side, however for sturdier pages, we taped two pieces of paper together back to back with terrifically tacky tape. You can also tape the paper onto card stock if you like.
Step one: Cut the paper for your pages and the journaling spaces and lay them out as you like. Attach with Terrifically Tacky Tape. Stack your pages and punch holes along the left side for tying the book together later.
Step two: Embellish with beads, charms, Swarovski rhinestones, fibers and ribbons. On all the pages we used terrifically tacky tape to attach the ribbon and fibers to the paper. For the front we strung beads on No.4 Griffin jade bead cord and wove it through the ribbon. We used Swarovski hotfix rhinestones for the sparkle on all of the pages. For help using the Bejeweler please see the Handy Tips section in the Learning Center. If you want to use Swarovski flatbacks we recommend Gem-Tac permanent adhesive.
