Meadow Sprite Necklace Instructions Designed by Cynthia Kimura
Step into spring with this colorful Meadow Sprite necklace! Beautiful beads full of purple, blue and green sparkle work together to create a magical necklace you'll love wearing.
Creating the Pendant
Step one: Glue the Grace Lampwork blue dragonfly with purple flowers lentil bead to Lacy's Stiff Stuff or felt from a craft store. Allow to dry.
Step two: Create one row of a two-seed-bead backstitch around the dragonfly bead using the TOHO bead rounds 11/0 in color-lined Capri/aqua.
Step three: Create a peyote stitch bezel using the TOHO bead rounds 8/0 in color-lined light green/topaz on top of the first row of the two-seed-bead backstitch.
Step four: Add another row of the two-seed-bead backstitch to the outside of the first row of backstitch with the Capri/aqua TOHOs. Trim the Lacy stiff stuff.
Step five: Finish your beaded bezel by making a an edge using light green/topaz TOHOs. We chose a textured felt for the back of our piece.
Step six: Add decorative fringe to the bottom of your pendant. For help with this, please see our How to Add Fringe to a Seed Bead Bezel Handy Tip. Follow this pattern for each dangle in the fringe:
Three TOHO bead rounds 11/0 in trans-rainbow green AB
One Miyuki 11/0 trans silver lined royal purple Delica
One Swarovski 4mm faceted round in Crystal AB
One purple Delica
One Swarovski 6mm mini round bead in Tanzanite
A purple Delica
One Crystal AB faceted round
One purple Delica
Three trans-rainbow green TOHOs
A loop of approximately five purple Delicas, then a Swarovski 14mm pure leaf pendant in Peridot and then five more purple Delicas
You will be creating three pieces of fringe, spaced out evenly at the bottom of your pendant.
Step seven: Finish your pendant by creating a beaded bail with the light green/topaz TOHOs. See our Handy Tip on how to create a beaded bail on an embrodered bezel using the brick Stitch Technique for more detailed instruction.
Creating the Necklace
Step one: Cut a length of jewelry wire approximately 22 inches long. Attach one part of the antique sterling silver-plated brass flower design magnetic clasp to the end of the wire and crimp shut using a sterling silver 2x2mm crimp tube and a sterling silver 3mm crimp cover. Step two: String on the following pattern:
One light green/topaz TOHO
A trans-rainbow green TOHO
One faceted round in Crystal AB
A trans-rainbow green TOHO
One light green/topaz TOHO
A mini round bead in Tanzanite
One light green/topaz TOHO
A trans-rainbow green TOHO
One faceted round in Crystal AB
A trans-rainbow green TOHO
One light green/topaz TOHO
One Swarovski 6mm mini round bead in Light Turquoise
Repeat this pattern five more times.
Step three: String on the pattern from step two once more, omitting the last two TOHOs and the mini round bead in Light Turquoise. String on the pendant.
Step four: Create a mirror image on the other side of the pendant and finish the necklace by attaching the other half of the magnetic clasp and crimping shut with a crimp tube and cover.
