Emerald Shimmer Necklace Instructions
Delicate in design and subtle in shimmer, this necklace can easily be worn day to evening. Play with color to personalize this necklace for yourself.
Step one: Cut 2 strands, approximately 30 inches, of Beadalon® 49 strand, silver plated .018 jewelry wire. You will begin this design in the center. On one strand of the wire, center a 10mm silver lined emerald lampwork bead, add a 6mm silver lined peridot lampwork bead to both sides and flatten a 2x2mm sterling silver twisted crimp tube on both ends of the design. For the twisted crimps, you will just flatten them with your chain or flat nose pliers, that way the design will still show.
Step two: Hold both wires in your hand, with the centers together. Slide both pieces of wire through one crimp tube and flatten it about one inch from the center beads. Repeat this on the other side, making sure that the undecorated wire is just slightly shorter than the one with the beads before flattening your second crimp. This will allow it to hang slightly higher on the finished piece.
Step three: Add a 5mm silver and emerald roundelle, followed by a 10mm silver lined peridot lampwork bead and another roundelle. Make sure to pass both wires through this section of the design. Flatten a twisted crimp tube on the other end of this pattern to hold in place.
Step four: On the bottom wire, flatten a crimp tube about and inch from the last segment and repeat the center design. Leave another inch and pass both wires through another crimp tube, again making sure the top wire is a bit shorter than the bottom, and flatten the crimp. Follow that with a 6mm silver lined emerald bead, crimp, 6mm silver lined peridot, crimp, emerald and crimp.
Step five: When the pattern is complete on both sides of the necklace, run the wires to the desired length and attach to the silver antique pewter heirloom clasp using a 2x2mm sterling silver crimp tube with a crimping tool. Cut the excess wire, and you are done! |
