This antique-inspired necklace is perfect for those of us who wish to be free to fly like the birds. We used one of our favorite nature-themed craft sheets for the backgrounds in these vintage frames, but feel free to use any image you deem appropriate.
Note: When using the ICE Resin®, each time you mix you will have enough for multiple pieces of jewelry, so you might want to have other pieces ready so as not to not waste the mix. For help with Ice Resin®, visit the Handy Tips section of the Learning Center.
Step One: Cut the bird image from the nature collage paper to fit the antique gold-plated pewter grande square link, and cut the egg image to fit the antique gold-plated pewter mini circle link. Coat the images in Mod Podge to prevent bleeding. Let dry completely. Repeat.
Step Two: Apply a coating of Mod Podge to the inside of both links. Position the background cutouts and gently press them into their respective frames, making sure they are smooth and without bubbles. Apply another coat of Mod Podge to the cut outs in the frames. Let dry completely.
Step Three: Mix together the ICE Resin® as indicated on the instructions. Pour the resin slowly into the frames or use a mixing stick to drizzle the resin into the frames. Because of the thickness of the resin, it tends to mound as you pour and then it settles, making it easy to overfill the frames. Let dry overnight. Please note that the ICE Resin® often takes several days to fully harden, so take care not to make indentations in the surface of your pendant.
Step Four: On a 1.5-inch antique brass-plated head pin, string a 6mm Swarovski faceted roundelle in mint alabaster and a 4mm Swarovski faceted roundelle in jet. Finish with a wrapped loop. For help with wrapped loops visit the Handy Tips section of the Learning Center.
Step Five: Attach the head pin to the circle link using a 4mm antique brass-plated open jump ring. For help with jump rings visit the Handy Tips section of the Learning Center. Attach the two links together using a 6mm antique brass-plated open jump ring. Attach a 4mm jump ring to the top of the square link and string the satin necklace in turquoise through the ring to complete the necklace.
