Sedona Necklace Instructions Designed by Cynthia Kimura
This fascinating necklace includes all of the magical colors of a desert oasis at sunset. Vivid turquoise blues mingle with rich Bordeaux colors, while hints of gold twinkle majestically. The trendy tassel dangling at the end of the Czech glass button focal brings it all together. You'll love wearing this necklace at the office, for a night on the town or anywhere else!
Step one: Cut a length of jewelry wire approximately 22 inches long. Slide a 14K/20 gold-filled 2x2mm crimp tube onto the strand, followed by a 5.5mm gold-plated 21 gauge open jump ring. Loop the end of the strand back through the crimp tube, to loop around the jump ring. Crimp in place and add a 3mm gold-filled crimp cover. Learn how to use a crimp tool here and how to use a crimp cover here.
Step two: String the following pattern of beads onto the wire:
One gold seed bead from the Turquoise Trail 15/0 Designer Seed Bead Blend
One Swarovski 6mm round pearl in Bordeaux
One gold seed bead
One Swarovski 6mm XILION bicone in Crystal Golden Shadow
One Czech glass 3x5mm light turquoise with Picasso finish faceted roundel bead
Two Czech glass 3x5mm transparent blue and white with Picasso finish roundel beads
One light turquoise roundel bead
Repeat this pattern five times, then add a gold seed bead, a Swarovski 14mm coin pearl in Bordeaux, another gold seed bead, a bicone, a gold seed bead and three Swarovski 4mm round pearls in Bordeaux. Then, string on the Czech glass turquoise and gold floral motif button. Make a mirror image of the bead pattern on the other side of the button.
Step three: Add a crimp tube and 5.5mm jump ring to the strand, then loop the end of the strand back through the crimp tube and crimp in place. Add a crimp cover. Attach the TierraCast gold-plated pewter renaissance toggle set to the ends of the necklace. For help opening and closing jump rings, please see our Handy Tip Video.
Step four: Attach an 8mm satin Hamilton gold-plated 18 gauge open jump ring to the opening on the bottom of the button shank. This is where you will attach the tassel. To create the tassel, loop KO beading thread around the jump ring and secure in place. Add Turquoise Trail seed beads to the thread until the tassel piece is just about the length you like. Then, add a Swarovski 3mm round pearl in Bordeaux, followed by a gold seed bead. Skip the last gold seed bead and bring the thread back through the pearl and the rest of the seed beads. Knot the thread at the top of the tassel, then continue using the same thread to create tassel pieces until you are satisfied. We have about 15 strands in our tassel. Knot and trim the thread once you have enough tassel pieces.
