Sandy Sequoia Paper Doll Instructions Designed by Cheri Carlson
These Mommy and Me paper dolls are meant to inspire. Yours can be as simple or as ornate as you wish. You can help with the cutting, crimping and using the Bejeweler. Don't know how to sew? Skip it and glue on some beads and glitter. It is a great project for sharing different crafting skills with your child. We used rubber stamps, felt, card stock, SWAROVSKI ELEMENTS hotfix rhinestones, pewter charms, beads, some findings and three different stamp sets to create this paper doll. You can mix and match sets or focus on one to make your paper doll unique.
Step one: Use the bell bottoms from the Bell Bottoms rubber stamp set to stamp onto a piece of felt from the 4x4 inch felt squares 12 piece multi pack. Cut out with scissors. Embellish the pants if you wish, we used Silamide orange and purple thread and did a running stitch and a chain stitch. Then we added SWAROVSKI ELEMENTS hotfix rhinestones in fuchsia, rose and sun. For help using the Bejeweler please visit the Handy Tips section in the Learning Center.
Step two: Use the vest stamp from the Bloom rubber stamp set to stamp onto a piece of felt. Cut out with scissors. Use the Silamide thread to sew 15/0 silver-lined lemon lime tohos on for buttons. Cut two strips of felt for the fringe, we did some orange stitching along the top edge and then snipped it to look like fringe, then glued it in place with some Quick Hold craft adhesive. Allow to dry.
Step three: Use craft adhesive to attach the pants and vest to a piece of card stock. Allow to dry. Cut out with scissors.
Step four: Place the pants and vest on another piece of card stock and trace around them with a pencil and then set the pants and vest aside. Using the outline as a guide, stamp the face of your choice (we used the face from the Queens Rule stamp set) onto the card stock. You can pencil in to create shoulders if you like. Cut the face and outline of pants and vest with scissors.
Step five: Cut a 1½ inch piece of ZambaPro™ 49 .019 jewelry wire. Thread a pewter straight arm charm onto the wire and then thread a sterling silver 2x2mm crimp tube over both ends of the wire and crimp. For help using crimp tubes please visit the Handy Tips section in the Learning Center. Repeat for the second arm.
Step six: Cut a 2 inch piece of jewelry wire. Thread a pewter foot charm onto the wire. Over both ends of the wire thread an 8/0 sand-lined crystal toho, the antique silver plated pewter 10mm flower large hole spacer, and two more tohos. Use a crimp tube to crimp. Repeat for the second foot, but this time use three tohos and no spacer.
Step seven: Use craft adhesive to attach the arms and legs in place on the cut out from step four. Spread craft adhesive onto the back of the felt outfit and place on top sandwiching the jewelry wire in between. Allow to dry.
Step eight: We used ss16 rose hotfix for her rose colored glasses and colored pencil for her cheeks.
