River of Stars Bracelet Instructions Designed by Cheri Carlson
Beautiful shades of deep blue come together in this bracelet to create a look that speaks of the night sky gleaming with stars. Cheri used an Artbeads Designer Seed Bead Blend for an easy color palette for this loomed piece. With slightly larger fire-polished beads thrown into the mix, this bracelet has a subtle wavy texture to the edges. Discover more inspiration for using Artbeads Designer Blends in your jewelry designs in this Artbeads Cafe episode.
Step one: Follow the manufacturer's instructions on how to warp the Ricks Beading Loom using this guideline: for a bracelet with a 7 to 7 1/2-inch wrist size, set the loom to approximately 163mm for 75 rows of seed beads. You may want to increase this size slightly to account for the fold over length when attaching the clasp. You can watch this video tutorial for more help with setting up your loom.
Step two: Add 19 rows of seed beads from the Artbeads Iris Dark Blue Designer Blend to the loom. Each row will have six beads. Please see our Handy Tip on how to add weft thread to the loom if you run short part of the way through your project. If you reach the end of your bracelet and still want to add a row or two to the pattern, see this Handy Tip. This technique will allow you to add rows to the beginning of the bracelet, too.
Step three: For your next row, add two seed beads, two fire-polished 2mm blue iris beads, and two seed beads. Repeat this pattern for the next row.
Step four: Add six rows of seed beads to the loom. Repeat steps 3-4 six times.
Step five: Finish the loomed piece by adding 13 rows of seed beads to the loom.
Step six: Slide one end of your loomed piece through the slot on half of the TierraCast antique pewter 10mm slotted D ring clasp set. Fold over the desired amount of your bracelet and stitch the end row to the body of the bracelet to secure the clasp in place. For help with this technique please see this tutorial. Repeat this step on the other end of the bracelet.
Step seven: Attach the bar component of the clasp to one end of the bracelet using three 5mm antique silver-plated 18 gauge open jump rings linked together. For help opening and closing jump rings, please see this tutorial video.
