Rather Be Fishing Keychain Instructions Designed by Cynthia Kimura
Created with a combination of actual fishing materials and fish-themed jewelry components, this keychain makes a perfect Father's Day gift for any fisherman. For the fishing components, we simply raided a tackle box, but you could pick up any of these components a store that sells fishing supplies. If the man in your life is less in tune with his inner woodsman, simply use your imagination and other Artbeads.com products, to come up with a variation on the fishing theme.
Step One: Cut out a paper background to fit the bottom of the antique copper-plated pewter large rectangle pendant. Apply a coat of Mod Podge® or other sealer to both sides of the paper and allow it to dry completely. Apply a second coat and allow to dry completely. Apply a coat of Mod Podge® to the inside of the frame. Position the paper and gently press and smooth it to remove any air pockets. Apply another coat to the surface of the paper and around the edges. Allow it to dry completely before pouring the resin. These steps will prevent the paper from bleeding when you pour the ICE Resin.
Step Two: Place whatever item you want to display inside the pendant. We used a small lead weight, fishing hook and the sterling silver bass charm. Mix the ICE Resin® as directed. Pour the resin into the pendant. Note that because of the thickness of the resin, it tends to mound as you pour it and then it settles, making it easy to over fill the frame. Pour the resin slowly into the frame or use a mixing stick to drizzle the resin into the frame. Let dry for 24 hours. For help with ICE Resin visit the Handy Tips section of the Learning Center.
Step Three: Attach the pendant to one end of a swivel connector using a sterling silver oval jump ring. Attach a sterling silver bass charm and the fishing weight to the other end of the connector with a jump ring.
