The rich colors in this necklace are as eye-catching as the design. If you are passionate about purple, this is the necklace for you! Our designer created an entire jewelry set in this color scheme. To see the matching earrings, click on Purple Passion Earrings.
Step one: Create the hanging wire for the heart pendant by cutting a length of approximately six inches of 20 gauge, half-hard, sterling silver wire. With your round nose pliers make a tiny loop at one end of the wire. Hold that loop flat between the tips of your chain-nose pliers and wrap the wire three times around the original loop creating a spiral. Bend the wire so that it has a 90 degree bend in it. Add the mega heart to your wire bottom-down. At the top of the wire create another simple loop. Your pendant is ready for the necklace.
Step two: Cut four lengths of ZambaPro™ 49 .012 jewelry wire to approximately 28 inches. Put all four wires together and string the pendant on the center of the wire.
Step three: Going out from the center, you will duplicate the pattern on both sides of the necklace. For simplicity's sake we will describe the pattern going up one side. Begin with an 8mm mystic black Swarovski pearl. Thread all four wires through the pearl, follow that with a 6mm tanzanite Swarovski bicone crystals, and then another mystic black pearl. Cinch the wires tight to the pearl by adding a rectangular faceted spacer beads. You are now going to start adding the Delica beads.
Step four: The simplest way to add the beads is to pour all of your Delicas into a small pile on your work surface (we recommend using a bead mat or other non-slip surface). Hold the four wires no more than two inches from their ends and push the beads toward the wires. They will find their way onto the ends of the wire effortlessly! Check your count after a few pushes. You want to have 20 beads on each wire.
Step five: Add a silver spacer and push a bit to make sure all of the Delicas line up. You also want to add enough tension to make them bow out a bit, adding dimension to the piece.
Step six: Add a deep purple 8mm Swarovski pearl, followed by a 6mm purple velvet bicone, another pearl and another spacer. Add 20 more Delicas, a spacer, and then repeat the patterns from the center until you have four total pearl segments on each side.
Step seven: After adding 20 more Delicas to each strand put on a spacer, a tanzanite crystal and a spacer, then add 50 Delicas to each side. Your necklace is almost complete! Put all four wires through another silver spacer, a purple velvet bicone, then a 2x2mm sterling silver crimp tube. Carefully separate the wires so that there are two on either side of the crimp tube and finish with a crimp tool. Cut two of the wires flush to the tube, leave two wires on each side of the necklace.
Step eight: String the remaining two wires on each side through another purple velvet bicone followed by a 1.8mm round crimp bead. Pull the wires through their respective ends of the clasp and back through the crimp bead. Pull taught, leaving enough room for the clasp to move freely.
