Primary Palette Necklace Instructions Designed by Cynthia Kimura
Beautiful strands of WireLace come together to complement the gorgeous Venetian glass pendant in this multi-strand treasure. As this necklace shows, WireLace can add all new texture and dimension to simple designs. See more of this beauty and other ideas for using WireLace in your looks in this Artbeads Cafe episode.
Step one: Cut a length of gold-plated textured oval cable chain approximately 19 inches long. String the Venetian glass 24KT gold and turquoise aventurina swirl teardrop bead onto a 2-inch antique brass-plated 2mm 20 gauge ball end head pin and attach it to the center of the chain by creating a simple loop. For help making simple loops, please see our Simple Loop Handy Tip. Attach one end of the chain to the eye of the 2-inch satin Hamilton gold-plated 20 gauge eye pin.
Step two: Cut a length of WireLace 6mm copper ribbon approximately 25 inches long. Cut a length of WireLace 12mm tanzanite ribbon approximately 20 inches long. Cut a length of WireLace 12mm brass ribbon approximately 19 inches long. Tie the ends of all three lengths in a knot above the eye of the eye pin.
Step three: Shape the strands of WireLace to your liking. You can stretch and curve the strands so that they appear more textured and "fluffier." Once you are done shaping the strands, brush them with a sealant like Mod Podge. This will help the strands retain their fluffier shape. Allow to dry.
Step four: Attach the other end of the chain to an eye of another eye pin. Adjust the lengths of the WireLace if necessary and tie the open ends in a knot above this eye.
Step five: Slide a 6mm antique brass-plated pewter raised flower end cap onto one of the eye pins, to cover the strands of WireLace. Add a Swarovski 4mm XILION bicone in Tanzanite AB to the eye pin and make a wrapped loop. See our Handy Tip for more help making wrapped loops. Attach one half of the JBB gold-plated pewter flower toggle clasp to the wrapped loop using a 14K/20 gold-filled 6mm jump ring. See our Jump Ring Handy Tip Video for help opening and closing jump rings. Repeat this step for the other end of the necklace.
