The fiery focal blazes beautifully against the gleaming black beads of the necklace and the dangling fringe looks like the red and gold feathers of the mythical bird. Every sparkle catches the eye and captures the imagination. Put this necklace at the heart of your ensemble and instantly light up your looks!
Step one: Glue the Swarovski 30x20mm fancy pear in Crystal Astral Pink onto a piece of Lacy's Stiff Stuff and allow to dry. Create two rows of a peyote stitch bezel around the stone using Miyuki 8/0 transparent rainbow light amber hex cut seed beads. Read our Handy Tip for more information on how to make a peyote stitch bezel.
Step two: Create a row of the two-seed-bead backstitch using Swarovski 4mm XILION bicones in Crystal Copper. Please see our Handy Tip for detailed instructions on how to make a two-seed-bead backstitch. Create another row using Swarovski 3mm faceted rounds in Crystal Silver Night and a third row using Swarovski 3mm faceted rounds in Hematite.
Step three: Trim your Lacy's Stiff Stuff and add a beaded edge around your focal using the brick stitch technique with TOHO 8/0 bead rounds in opaque shiny jet black. Check out our Handy Tip for more information on how to create a beaded edge.
Step four: At the top of your focal, create a beaded bail using 3mm faceted rounds in Hematite. Our Handy Tip can teach you more about how to create a beaded bail.
Step five: Add a beaded fringe to the bottom of the focal. Start in the middle with the longest piece of fringe. Add a random pattern of TOHO bead mix in ambers, Swarovski 4mm XILION bicones in Crystal Astral Pink and 3mm faceted rounds in Hematite. At the end of the fringe, add a loop of five Miyuki transparent dark topaz silver-lined 3.4mm drop fringe seed beads, a small bronze anodized aluminum scale embellishment and then five more drop fringe seed beads. Take your thread back up through the beads. Please see our Handy Tip to finish the fringe, but remember that the design on this fringe is longer in the center and then gradually gets shorter on each side.
Step six: Cut a length of jewelry wire approximately 17 inches long. Attach one end to one half of the gunmetal-plated brass cut out circle toggle clasp using a 5mm gunmetal-plated 18 gauge open jump ring and crimp shut using TierraCast 2x2mm black finish brass crimp tube. For help using crimp tubes, please see our Handy Tip Video. For more help with jump rings, check out our jump ring Handy Tip Video.
Step seven: String on three Swarovski 6mm XILION bicones in Jet, followed by a Dakota Stones golden obsidian 8mm faceted rondelle bead. Repeat this pattern six times and add a Swarovski 16mm cosmic bead in Jet. Add another golden obsidian rondelle bead, three more Jet bicones and another golden obsidian rondelle bead.
Step eight: String on your focal and mirror the pattern from step seven on the other side of the necklace. Finish the necklace by adding the other half of the toggle clasp using a jump ring and a crimp tube.
