Opportunity Pendant Instructions Designed by Cynthia Kimura
Create a pendant that is both inspirational and fashionable. This "Opportunity" design beautifully portrays a powerful message of hope and aspiration through an allegorical bird and cage design. A coral-hued background showcases brilliant silver charms for a layered pendant that is surprisingly simple to construct. To see this pendant truly shine with the matching necklace, check out the Opportunity Necklace.
Step one: Choose an image to serve as the back ground of your pendant; we used a small picture of a cage to tie in with the "opportunity" theme. Cut the image to fit inside the frame of a silver-plated pewter raised pendant small square, and use the Nunn Design glue to adhere the image into the frame. Allow to dry. Apply Nunn Design sealant to the background image and let dry for approximately 20 minutes.
Step two: Cut out the word "hope" from the decorative words Nunn Design transfer sheet. Apply the transfer over the background image; we placed it in the top-right corner. For help applying the transfer, visit the How to Use Transfer Sheets handy tip located in the learning center. Coat the image and transfer with Nunn Design sealant and allow the sealant to dry for approximately 20 minutes. Apply a second coat of sealant and allow it to dry an additional 20 minutes. This process will insure that the image remains intact and free of watermarks.
Step three: Using the pour spout on the Nunn Design Gel du Soleil glaze, carefully dispense the glaze until it is filled level with the frame. Pop any air bubbles that have surfaced with a needle. Gently rest a pewter bird charm on the glaze in the lower-right corner so that the tail overlaps the right side of the frame. Place the frame under a UV lamp to cure for approximately 20 minutes.
Step four: Use E6000 Glue to affix an antique sterling silver branch with leaves link to the surface of the bottom section of the frame and allow it to dry.
Step five: To create the "fly" charm, use letters from the 1/8-inch alphabet metal stamp set to imprint the word "fly" onto a sterling silver small round tag charm. For help with metal stamping, visit the handy tips section of the learning center. Attach the tag charm to a jump ring and connect it to the left loop of the branch link, making sure that the imprinted side faces forward. Attach a 0.90x4.60mm sterling silver open jump ring to a sterling silver key charm and connect it to the right loop of the branch link.
