This necklace is a great piece of jewelry with an important message. The soft microfiber material emphasizes how delicate some opportunities can be, and the vibrant pink crystals exemplify how hope is in the hearts of so many searching for it. The pendant is part of another Learning Center idea, and is the perfect focal point for this design.
Step one: To create the pendant for this necklace, follow the steps in the Learning Center idea for the Opportunity Pendant.
Step two: Cut the silver-plated square links on a round cable chain into a 6-inch long strand using side cutters.
Step three: Thread one Swarovski 5810 5mm pearl in Light Grey onto a 1 1/2-inch head pin. Attach it to a link on the silver link chain with a wrapped loop. For help making a wrapped loop, visit the Handy Tip located in the Learning Center. Repeat this step for the remaining pearls, the Swarovski 5328 6mm XILION bicones in Padparadscha and the Swarovski 5328 6mm XILION bicones in Crystal Silver Shade. Attach them to the chain in a random fashion, spacing them evenly across the length of the chain. Be sure to leave a space in the center of the chain for the pendant.
Step four: Slip the antique brass-plated pewter vine pinch bail over the chain and pinch it onto the pendant.
Step five: Cut the black ultra micro fiber suede into two 6-inch pieces. Take one strand and loop it through one end of the silver chain. Make sure to string it through the round cable, not a square link. Attach a sterling silver crimp end with ring to each end of the micro fiber strand. Use adhesive if you like for added security. For help attaching the crimp end to the stringing material, see the Handy Tip from the Learning Center. Repeat with the second strand of suede on the other side of the necklace.
Step six: Attach a sterling silver open jump ring (0.90 x 4.60mm) to each crimp end. Connect the two jump rings on either end together with a larger 0.75 x 5.85mm sterling silver open jump ring. For help with jump rings, be sure to visit the Handy Tips section of the Learning Center.
Step seven: Attach the bar end of the sterling silver large vine toggle clasp to one of the larger open jump rings. Repeat on the other side with the loop portion of the clasp.
