A perfect blend of modern and vintage is created in these lovely filigree earrings. The antique brass charm set off with bright red and white dangles creates a great evening look for warm nights.
Step one: Glue an 18mm round glass cabochon in foiled Rosaline to the indented center of an antique brass art deco charm using E6000 glue. Allow it to dry. Attach one antique brass-plated earwire with ball and coil to the loop at the top of the charm using chain nose pliers.
Step two: Using the nipper tool, cut the Beadalon® satin copper wire into twelve 2 1/2 inch strands. Use a 2mm antique brass-plated crimp bead to close off one end of each strand using chain nose pliers. Simply thread the tube onto the end of the wire and clamp down with pliers. Trim any excess.
Step three: Take one wire strand and string these beads in the following order: one Swarovski 4mm faceted bicone in Ruby, six TOHO™ bead rounds in crystal twilight and six TOHO™ bead rounds in silver-lined ruby. Attach this beaded strand to the left corner of the charm from step one with a crimp tube. For help with crimp tubes, see the handy tips section of the learning center. Repeat to complete a second strand, but this time start with a Swarovski 4mm XILION bicone in Sand Opal then six silver-lined ruby TOHO™ beads, then six crystal twilight TOHO™ beads. This will create a pattern opposite that of the first strand. Attach this strand to the right corner of the charm.
Step four: Using a third strand, string one Sand Opal XILION bicone, then seven TOHO™ silver-lined ruby beads, then seven TOHO™ crystal twilight beads and attach to the charm just to the right of your first strand, allowing it to hang slightly lower. Create a fourth beaded strand by stringing one XILION bicone in Ruby, then seven TOHO™ crystal twilight beads and seven TOHO™ silver-lined ruby beads. Attach this fourth strand to the charm just to the left of your second strand, allowing it to hang slightly lower.
Step five: Continue this process of creating opposite pairs and attaching the strands working toward the center of the earring.
Follow these patterns for the remaining strands: Strand 5-One XILION bicone in Ruby, eight TOHO™ crystal twilight, eight TOHO™ silver-lined ruby; Strand 6-One XILION bicone in Sand Opal, eight TOHO™ silver-lined ruby, eight TOHO™ crystal twilight; Strand 7-One XILION bicone in Sand Opal, nine TOHO™ ruby, nine TOHO™ crystal twilight; Strand 8-One XILION bicone in Ruby, nine TOHO™ crystal twilight, nine TOHO™ ruby; Strand 9-One XILION bicone in Ruby, ten TOHO™ crystal twilight, ten TOHO™ ruby;Strand 10-One XILION bicone Sand Opal, ten TOHO™ ruby, ten TOHO™ crystal twilight; Strand 11-One XILION bicone Sand Opal, eleven TOHO™ ruby, eleven TOHO™ crystal twilight; Strand 12-One XILION bicone Ruby, eleven TOHO™ crystal twilight, eleven TOHO™ ruby. Strands 5, 7, 9 and 11 will attach to the left side of the charm and strands 6, 8, 10 and 12 will attach to the right side. Strands 5 and 6 should hang symmetrically, 7 and 8 should be symmetrical to each other, and so on.
Step six: Repeat the steps to create the second earring, reversing the color patterns.
