This bracelet is perfect for Mother's Day or any day you want to celebrate a mother in your life! This bracelet uses the birthstone colors of the designer's children. Make sure to match your beads to the birthstone colors for the children's names you are using. There are two ways to handle more than two names for this design. First you can add more strands, in which case you may want to change clasps. We recommend multi-strand tube clasps for bracelets. You can also add multiple names to each strand. This will have more silver and less color. It is just a personal preference. The instructions are specific to this bracelet. Make appropriate adjustments for your design.
Step one: Cut two lengths of ZambaPro™ 49 .019 jewelry wire to approximately 2 inches longer than you would like your finished length. Put one end of both wires into a Bead Stopper®. Begin by stringing the children's names, separated by 3mm saucer beads. At both ends of each name, add another saucer bead, a diamond shaped Bali bead and another saucer.
Step two: At this point you will want two Bead Stoppers, one for each end so that you can work on each side alternately. Begin with a 6mm glass druk bead in the birthstone color of the child with the shorter name, add a spacer, then a 4mm bead in the alternating color followed by a spacer. Repeat this pattern until you have reached the desired length. Remember to allow for the length of the clasp.
Step three: When you have completed the first strand, do not attach it to the clasp, place the ends back in the Bead Stopper so that it will lie flat to compare length to the second strand. You will do as you did above, but begin with the birthstone color of the other child. You will also want small beads to lie below big beads, so gauge which size to begin with by laying the strands side by side and choosing which beads will fit better. Continue the pattern until the second strand is the same length as the first.
Step four: When both strands are completed, attach them to the clasp using 2x2mm sterling silver crimp tubes. For detailed instructions on how to crimp, please visit the handy tips section of the learning center. It is best to attach a multi-strand piece when the clasp is closed so that you are certain you are attaching to the correct loops on each side.
