Draw attention away from the prom queen with these large, sparkling earrings. Their cheerful palette will help light up the dance floor as you strut your stuff for a night to remember.
Step one:
Cut one piece of Beadalon® approximately 3 inches long and fold in half.
Step two:
String the following pattern onto the strand:
one Swarovski XILION silver-plated 2-hole setting in Olivine
two 3.3mm stardust saucer beads
one Swarovski XILION silver-plated 2-hole setting in Jonquil
two stardust beads
one Olivine setting
two stardust beads
one Jonquil setting
Finish the pattern by threading both ends through a sterling 2x2mm crimp tube so they overlap and then crimping down with pliers. Cut the excess jewelry wire.
Step three:
Use 1-hour two-part epoxy to glue the first Olivine setting to a sterling silver 8mm glue-on earring post. Allow to dry, then add one clear rubber bullet clutch with comfort disc to the back of the post.
Step four:
Create a custom bezel setting for the Swarovski 30x20mm fancy pear in Crystal Luminous Green using the JBB white silver-plated gapped half circle bezel lace ribbon. Read our Handy Tip in the Learning Center on how to use ribbon bezels if you need more help. Use a bead stopper to hold the ribbon bezel in place at the top while you push the ribbon around the stone for a snug fit. Use a file to smooth the edges where you cut the ribbon.
Step five:
Cut approximately 8 inches of 24 gauge silver non-tarnish wire and wrap it just below your bail for a strong hold. Trim any excess wire. Then, attach one 0.90x3.90mm sterling silver open jump ring to this bail. Watch our Handy Tip video to learn how to open a jump ring.
Step six:
Connect the bottom Jonquil setting from Step two and the jump ring from Step five to one sterling silver small pendant bail. Simply open up the bail using pliers, insert both components and then close.
Repeat these steps to create the second earring.
