Flower Shapes
Thread one wire end through one matte wasabi small bell flower Czech bead, one large Czech glass bell flower bead in orange silk and three TOHO Magatama 3mm transparent topaz AB beads. Bring the same wire end back through the orange and green flowers using nylon jaw pliers to pull it through, creating a small loop in the center of the shape. Using your fingers, twist the small loop a few times until it is tight, securing the flower shape and causing the two wires to twist together.
Seed Bead Hoop Buds
Thread one wire end with an alternating pattern consisting of several TOHO 11/0 bead rounds in Ceylon seafom and six TOHO round 6/0 gilt-lined sunset orange beads, beginning and ending with 11/0 Ceylon seafoam rounds. Bring the wire back over the other end and continue to twist the two ends together with your fingers for approximately 3/4 of an inch or five twists to secure the beads.
*Use this same technique to create the clear buds using three TOHO 8/0 bead rounds in frosted Ceylon cream.
Leaf Accents
Thread one wire end through a Czech glass wavy leaf bead in topaz AB. Twist the two wire ends together approximately five times to secure the bead.
Creating the Necklace
Step one:
Cut two pieces of 26 gauge chartreuse artistic wire 6 feet long. Fold one wire in half to find the center. Tip: Use the Nylon Jaw pliers to smooth out any kinks that should occur in the long pieces of wire. Wear eye protection!
Step two:
Create a random cluster of flower shapes, leaf accents and seed bead hoop buds on one wire then connect both wires together. The second wire will help support this grouping.
Step three:
Working from the center out, create a symmetrical pattern on each side. Add desired amounts of flower shapes, leaf accents, hoop buds and clear buds along the wires. Break up clusters by incorporating TOHO 8/0 rounds in dichroic lined aqua blue rainbow onto the wire ends as you twist. Add an aqua blue rainbow TOHO every half inch or so.
Step four:
Create small, loose hoops in the corners of the design by twisting the two strands of wire together. Create a second layer in the necklace by twisting the two strands together to make a dangling vine part in the center.
Step five:
Cut the sky blue/green with metallic gold edges hand-dyed silk ribbon in half. Attach each piece to the loose hoops in the corners of the necklace. Wrap a separate cut piece of wire around the ends to secure them.
