May 23 is World Turtle Day, a special day meant to bring attention to and increase the knowledge of turtles and tortoises. You can help save the turtles by bringing awareness in your own way—including this fashionable necklace!
Step one:
Cut one piece of jewelry wire approximately 24 inches long. Attach one end of the wire to the bar portion of the TierraCast antique copper-plated large tapered clasp set using one 14K/20 gold-filled 2x2mm crimp tube. Read our Handy Tip in the Learning Center on how to use crimp tubes if you need help.
Step two:
Thread the Unicorne Beads ocean swirl dichroic boro glass sea turtle bead onto the sterling silver 20 gauge head pin. Finish with a simple loop technique and attach this loop to one sterling silver open jump ring. Set aside.
Step three:
String the following pattern onto the jewelry wire:
one TierraCast copper 4mm hex heishi spacer
one Swarovski 8mm briolette bead in Pacific Opal
one Swarovski 8mm briolette bead in Indicolite AB
one Pacific Opal bead
Repeat this three more times and then string this pattern twice:
one copper spacer
one aquamarine nugget freshwater pearl
one spacer
one Pacific Opal bead
one Indicolite AB bead
one Pacific Opal bead
Step four:
String the following pattern onto the wire three times:
one spacer
one pearl
one spacer
one Grace Lampwork yellow and blue dichroic boro glass mix roundel bead
one spacer
one pearl
one spacer
one Pacific Opal bead
one Indicolite AB bead
one Pacific Opal bead
Then, string this pattern: one spacer, one pearl, one spacer, one Pacific Opal bead, one Indicolite AB bead, one Pacific Opal bead, one spacer and then three pearls. Add the turtle bead onto the strand and then create a mirror image on the other side to complete the strand.
Step five:
Finish the piece by attaching the loop portion of the clasp using another crimp tube.
