This Renaissance-inspired piece with bold, brass and dramatic red coloring can be worn as a necklace, belt or even a wrap bracelet! Its hammered cross and shield-like links add to this strong female design draped with TierraCast components.
Step one: Use the antique brass-plated large rollo chain to create a strand that is 6 links long. Do this by opening the seventh link like a jump ring. Discard the open jump ring as it will be too difficult to close back up. Watch our Handy Tip video to learn how to open a jump ring if you need help. Repeat this seven more times and set them all aside.
Step two: To create a bead link, use semi-flush side cutters to snip off the flat end of one TierraCast 2-inch 20 gauge brass oxide pewter head pin and create a simple loop on one end. Thread the following pattern onto the pin:
one Swarovski 3mm round pearl in Antique Brass
one TierraCast brass oxide pewter 8mm round hammered bead cap
one Swarovski 8mm briolette bead in Khaki
one pearl
Finish the open end with a simple loop. Set aside.
Step three: Repeat step two, substituting the Khaki briolette bead with one Swarovski 8mm briolette bead in Light Siam. Repeat step two once more, this time substituting the Khaki briolette bead with one Swarovski 8mm briolette bead in Mocca.
Step four: Use chain nose pliers to open the loops in each link created above to connect the Khaki link to the Light Siam link, and the Light Siam link to the Mocca link. This will create a chain out of the three links.
Step five: Repeat steps two through four 7 more times.
Step six: Create one strand of large rollo chain that is 13 links long. Set aside. Thread a head pin with the following pattern:
one bead cap
one Light Siam briolette bead
the TierraCast 25mm brass oxide pewter hammertone round link embellishment
two pearls
Thread the head pin through the center link of the chain and then add one bead cap, one Light Siam briolette bead and one more bead cap. Finish with a simple loop.
Step seven: Thread a new head pin with one pearl and attach it to the simple loop from step six using a wrapped loop. Set this chain aside.
Step eight: Use two TierraCast medium oval brass oxide pewter jump rings, paired together, to connect the loop portion of the TierraCast brass oxide pewter hammered ellipse clasp set to one of the 6-link chains.
Step nine: Attach two more jump rings to the open end of the chain and connect them to the Mocca end of one Swarovski link created earlier. Connect the Khaki end to a new set of two jump rings and attach these to a new 6-link chain. Repeat.
Step ten: Attach a single jump ring to the open end of the chain and connect it to the TierraCast 25mm brass oxide pewter hammertone disk link. Attach one jump ring to the other end of the link and connect to a new 6-link chain.
Step eleven: Repeat step nine.
Step twelve: Complete the following pattern to finish the design:
