Lapis Layers Necklace Instructions Designed by Cynthia Kimura
This necklace cascades layers of blue and green waves and twinkles with bright silver and crystal additions, reminiscent of a cool desert night.
Step one: Cut the 925/10 silver-filled oval fancy chain into one strand approximately 19 inches long and set aside.
Step two: Cut one strand of jewelry wire approximately 7 inches long, 8 inches long and 9.5 inches long. Thread the end of each jewelry wire through one sterling silver 2x2mm crimp tube, approximately 1.5 inches down from the ends. Crimp the wires together. Read our Handy Tip on how to use a crimp tool if you need help. Cut two of the three short wire ends up close to the crimp, and then thread one white silver-plated brass Viking knitting end cap with circle cut outs onto the strand and over the crimp tube.
Step three: Add one Swarovski 5mm round pearl in Lapis, one 3mm bright sterling silver roundel bead and one Swarovski 3mm round pearl in Dark Lapis onto the short wire strand.
Step four: Attach the beaded strand from Step three to one end of the fancy oval chain using a new crimp tube. Cover the crimp tube with one sterling silver 3mm crimp cover. Learn how to use a crimp cover by reading our Handy Tip.
Step five: String the following onto the 7-inch wire strand:
one Swarovski 4mm round pearl in Lapis
one Swarovski 5mm round pearl in Jade
one Swarovski 6mm faceted round in Crystal AB
Then, string the following pattern five times:
one 5mm Jade pearl
one 4mm Lapis pearl
one 5mm Jade pearl
one 4mm Lapis pearl
one 5mm Jade pearl
one Crystal AB faceted round
Add one more 5mm Jade pearl and one more 4mm Lapis pearl to finish the strand.
Step six: String one 3mm Dark Lapis pearl onto the 8-inch wire strand. Then, string the following pattern:
one 5mm Jade pearl
one Swarovski transparent mini roundelle with Crystals
one Dakota Stones lapis lazuli 10x14mm oval bead
one mini rondelle
Repeat seven times and then add one more 5mm Jade and 3mm Dark Lapis pearl.
Step seven: String the following pattern onto the 9.5-inch wire:
one bright sterling silver roundel
one Dakota Stones 6mm blue apatite roundel bead
one bright sterling silver roundel
one Swarovski 6mm round pearl in Dark Lapis
Repeat seven times. Attach the sterling silver drop charm with Swarovski crystals to one sterling silver open jump ring (0.90 x 4.60mm). Watch our Handy Tip video to learn how to open and close a jump ring. Add the charm to the wire and then create a mirror image on the other side of the charm to finish the strand.
Step eight: Repeat steps two through four to complete the necklace.
