Named for the famous jewelry designer Miriam Haskell, this necklace is a nod to mid-century modern fashion. With a hint at holiday colors, it's the perfect dress-up accessory for office parties, holiday or formal outings to the theater during the Christmas season and beyond.
Filigree Embellishments
Step one: String the crystal Fireline onto a #11 short beading needle and secure it to one Kabela Design antique brass snowflake filigree by tying a knot to the underside. Thread the string up and over for a better hold.
Step two: Place one Swarovski 12mm Antique Brass round pearl in the center of the filigree. Thread the needle up through the bottom of the filigree and through the 12mm pearl's stringing hole, then back down through the filigree on the other side of the pearl. Thread it through the pearl two more times so it stays in place.
Step three: Lay ten Swarovski 4mm round pearls in Maroon around the 12mm pearl and stitch them to the filigree using the same process from Step two. Then, attach one Swarovski 4mm Dark Green round pearl to each point on the snowflake shape with the same technique.
Repeat this for the two remaining snowflake filigrees using the following color combinations:
One 12mm Swarovski Maroon round pearl, ten Swarovski 4mm Dark Green round pearls and five Swarovski 4mm Antique Brass round pearls.
One 12mm Swarovski Light Green round pearl, ten Swarovski 4mm Antique Brass round pearls and five Swarovski 4mm Maroon round pearls.
Tassel
Step one: Cut the antique brass-plated 3+1 small round and oval link chain into eighteen 2-inch long pieces. Gather nine of the chains together and attach them all to a 2-inch antique brass-plated 20 gauge eye pin. Attach the nine remaining chains to a second eye pin.
Step two: Thread both eye pins through a JBB antique brass-plated basket weave cone and then through a Swarovski 14mm Antique Brass round pearl. Use round nose pliers to coil the straight end of one eye pin around the other, and then thread the remaining pin end through a JBB antique brass-plated pewter knotwork bead cap.
Step three: With the pin, create a wrapped loop and attach it to two TierraCast® medium oval brass oxide pewter open jump rings. See our Handy Tip for help with jump rings.
The Rest of the Necklace
Step one: Attach the tassel to the snowflake filigree with the 12mm Antique Brass pearl by connecting the tassel's jump rings to the inside loop of the bottom two points on the snowflake.
Step two: Connect the filigree with the 12mm Light Green pearl to the right of the first filigree by attaching one jump ring to the first filigree's top right points and connect them to the second filigree's bottom left points. Connect the remaining filigree to the left of the first filigree using the same technique. You should now have a triangle shape made up of the three snowflake filigrees.
Step three: Cut approximately 1 inch of antique brass-plated textured oval link chain using a nipper tool. You should only have three textured oval links in the chain. Attach a jump ring to one end and set aside.
Step four: String one 4mm Dark Green pearl, one 12mm Maroon pearl and one more 4mm Dark Green pearl onto an eye pin. Create a simple loop with the straight end. Repeat this with two more eye pins using the following color combinations:
Two 4mm Antique Brass pearls and one 12mm Light Green pearl
Two 4mm Maroon pearls and one 12mm Antique Brass pearl
Link the pearl pins together?é?Çöthe large maroon pearl on the left end, the Light Green in the middle and the Antique Brass on the right end?é?Çöby connecting the simple loops you made. Attach the textured oval link chain to the Maroon pearl's open eye pin. Attach the open end of the Antique Brass pearl to the top left point of the left snowflake filigree. Repeat this for the top right point of the right snowflake filigree.
Step five: Cut a 5-inch long piece of textured oval link chain and attach a jump ring to each end. Connect one end to the bottom left point of the left snowflake filigree. Repeat this for the bottom right point of the right snowflake filigree.
Step six: Cut a piece of 49.012 jewelry wire 8 inches long. Attach one end the bottom right point of the left snowflake filigree using a TierraCast® 2x2mm brass oxide brass crimp tube. See our Handy Tip on how to use a bead crimper tool if you need help. String the following beads onto the wire in this order:

Finish the open end by attaching it to a jump ring using a crimp tube. Repeat this process for the bottom right point of the right snowflake filigree.
Step seven: Cut a 7 1/4-inch piece of antique brass-plated 5+1 rollo and oval link chain and attach a jump ring to each end. Connect one end to the top left point of the center snowflake filigree. Repeat this for the top right point of the center snowflake filigree.
Step eight: String three 12mm Maroon pearls, three Light Green pearls and three Antique Brass pearls onto their own eye pins. Connect one of each color together by creating a simple loop with the straight ends. You should have three separate links consisting of three pearls each. Connect the links together by attaching approximately 1 inch (three textured ovals) of textured oval link chain in between. Attach each open end of your newly-formed chain to a jump ring. Connect one jump ring to the bottom left point of the center snowflake filigree. Repeat this for the bottom right point of the center snowflake filigree.
Step nine: Attach all of the open jump rings on the left side of the necklace to a TierraCast® brass oxide pewter large quatrefoil link. Loop two 1 1/2-inch strands of textured oval link chain through the quatrefoil link and attach the ends to two open jump rings. Attach these jump rings to the hook portion of the Kabela Design antique brass triangular floral filigree hook and eye clasp.
Step ten: Repeat Step nine for the right side of the necklace, replacing the hook portion of the clasp with the eye portion.
