Looking for a fun project you can do with the kids? Snag some Shrinky Dinks® and get your kids creative juices flowing! Read the instructions for both Mom's necklace and the youth's necklace below so the two of you can create together.
Mommy Savanna Necklace:
We used a frosted Shrinky Dinks® square piece and stamped a decorative pattern on it using a Nunn Design StāzOn ink pad in jet black. Be sure to follow the manufacturer’s instructions for shrinking the plastic correctly.

Step one:
Glue the TierraCast antique silver swallow charm to the smooth side of the finished square, near the top, using 5-minute two-part epoxy. Allow to dry. This will serve as your bail.
Step two:
Thread the TierraCast black finish pewter paloma bead onto the 1-inch sterling silver 22 gauge head pin. Finish it with a wrapped loop technique and attach it to one 0.90x4.60mm sterling silver open jump ring. Connect this jump ring to a second jump ring to form a chain and attach it to the "eye" portion of the sterling silver rounded leaves hook and eye clasp. Watch our Handy Tip video on working with jump rings if you need help. Attach this portion of the clasp to one end of the 24-inch long 5mm antique silver-plated textured circular cable chain.
Step three:
Attach the TierraCast antique silver hummingbird charm to one open jump ring. Connect this jump ring to the inner loop of the JBB antique silver-plated brass flower with looped vines 1 ring pendant. Attach a new jump ring to the top loop of the pendant and connect it to the chain approximately 2 inches from the end where you added the clasp in Step two.
Step four:
Attach the swallow charm from Step one to one open jump ring and connect it to the chain approximately 3 inches away from the pendant in the previous step.
Step five:
Thread the Swarovski 4mm faceted round in Crystal Silver Night, the C-Koop Beads medium 5 petal white enameled copper flower bead and the acrylic large black star flower bead onto the 3-inch sterling silver 22 gauge head pin. Finish it with a simple loop and attach it to the chain approximately 3 ½ inches away from the charm in the previous step.
Step six:
Attach one open jump ring to the "hook" portion of the hook and eye clasp and connect it to the open end of the chain.
This necklace is meant to be worn so that the swallow charm you created hangs as the pendant. The hook and eye clasp serves as a decorative design element as well as a closure.
Child Sweet Fun Necklace:
Step one:
Attach each finished piece to its own sterling silver open jump ring. The size of jump rings you use will be determined by the size of each piece. Connect the jump rings along the sterling silver 1-to-1 twisted figure 8 chain, evenly spacing them across the length. Watch our Handy Tip video if you need help with jump rings.
Step two:
Connect each portion of the sterling silver heart cut-out toggle clasp to its own 0.75x5.35mm open jump ring and attach one portion to each end of the chain.
