Be the life of the party with this elegant necklace laced with colorful crystals and rich gold elements. Choose your own focal feather to feature in the center to make this piece one of a kind!
Step one:
Cut one piece of satin Hamilton gold-plated large circle link chain 15 inches long and cut twelve 1½ inch long pieces of gold-plated textured oval cable chain. Set aside. Apply a small amount of glue onto the quill of your desired feather and place it inside the satin Hamilton gold-plated crimp end. Use chain nose pliers to clamp down for a strong hold. If you need help learning how to use a crimp end, read our Handy Tip in the Learning Center. Set aside to let glue dry.
Step two:
Thread one Swarovski 6mm XILION bicone in Jet AB, one Swarovski 5mm XILION bicone in Blue Zircon and one Swarovski 4mm XILION bicone in Smoke Topaz onto their own 1.5-inch satin Hamilton gold-plated 23 gauge eye pin. Create a simple loop with each pin's open end. This will create links with a crystal in the middle of each. Connect one loop of the Jet AB link to one loop of the Blue Zircon link, and then connect the other loop of the Blue Zircon link to one loop of the Smoke Topaz link. Thread one Swarovski 3mm XILION bicone in Peridot onto one 1.5-inch satin Hamilton gold-plated 23 gauge head pin and finish with a simple loop. Connect the open loop of the Smoke Topaz link to the loop with the Peridot crystal. You should now have a dangling chain with bicones in descending sizes. Repeat this eleven more times.
Step three:
Repeat Step two, without the Jet AB bicones, to create a dangling chain with only three bicones in descending order. Do this one more time.
Step four:
Attach one 5mm satin Hamilton gold-plated open jump ring to one end of each textured oval link chain from Step one. Attach a jump ring to the crimp end of your feather. For help with jump rings, watch our Handy Tip video.
Step five:
Attach the crimp end to the center circle link on the large circle link chain. Use a Chain St&amul; to hold the chain in place to make attaching easier. Attach the two 3-bicone dangling chains to the large circle links on either side of the feather. Then, attach six of the other bicone dangling chains to the next six large circle links on either side of the feather for a symmetrical look.
Step six:
Attach the textured oval links between each bicone dangle by connecting their jump rings to the small oval-shaped links of the large circle link chain. You should now have seven bicone dangles and six textured oval link chains on each side of the feather.
Step seven:
Connect one jump ring to the 12x6.5mm satin Hamilton gold-plated trigger and attach to one end of the large circle link chain.
