Like the iconic island, this "Manhattan" necklace is a collection of influences. From the architectural structure of its silver bail and glossy Swarovski ring to its sparkling display of pavé beads that twinkle like a Broadway marquee, this piece perfectly reflects the sophisticated style of New York.
Step one:
Cut the gunmetal-plated double ball link chain into one strand approximately 7 inches long, leaving circle links for each end. Attach the 30mm silver-plated interchangeable bubbles bail onto the Swarovski 30mm cosmic ring in Jet by pulling the bail ends apart and sliding the ring in between. Then, close the ends together. Slide the bail onto the chain and set aside.
Step two:
Cut one piece of jewelry wire approximately 28 inches long. Attach one end to a 0.90x4.60mm sterling silver open jump ring using a sterling silver 2x2mm crimp tube. Read our Handy Tip to learn how to use a crimp tube if you need help. Cover the crimp tube with a sterling silver 3mm crimp cover. Step three:
String three Swarovski 5mm round pearls in Mystic Black onto the wire. Then, string the following pattern:
one Swarovski 3mm round pearl in White
one Swarovski 6mm faceted round in Crystal AB
one 3mm White pearl
five 5mm Mystic Black pearls
Repeat this pattern five more times.
Step four:
String one end of the chain onto the wire. Then, string the following pattern:
one TierraCast 5mm antique silver-plated pewter crown heishi spacer
three Swarovski 7mm round pearls in White
one 8x15mm variegated Jet, Platinum and CAL Crystal teardrop bead (black half first)
one spacer
one 7mm White pearl
one spacer
one teardrop (white half first)
one Nunn Design 8mm antique silver-plated pewter etched daisy bead cap
Step five:
Add the Swarovski 10mm round pearl in White, and then reverse the pattern from Step four. String the other end of the chain onto the wire.
Step six:
Create a mirror image of Step three for the other side to complete the necklace.
Step seven:
Connect the open wire end to a jump ring using one crimp tube. Cover the crimp tube with a crimp cover.
Step eight:
Use the jump rings to attach the loop portion of the 18mm Beadelle silver-plated crystal pavé round toggle clasp to one end of the necklace and the bar portion of the clasp to the other end. Watch our Handy Tip video to learn how to open and close a jump ring.
