Twisted Sister Necklace Instructions Designed by Artbeads
This fun project is ideal for sleepovers and birthday parties to keep the BFF's busy, and Mom can supervise while joining in on the fun, too! Each necklace can be unique with beads you make yourself using scrap paper and fabric.
Step one: Cut one piece of elastic cord approximately 36 inches long. Make nine oval fabric beads and twelve tube beads. Experiment with different media like Gilders Paste to create a variety of unique beads. We made seven of the oval beads the same color and the other two a different color, and ten tube beads the same color.
Step two: String one oval bead and one TOHO 6/0 bead round in gilt-lined dark mint opal. Repeat twice and center the beads on the strand.
Step three: Thread both cord ends through one TOHO to make a triangle.
Step four: On the right cord end, string one oval bead, one TOHO and one more oval bead. Loop this end down and through the right oval bead and the top TOHO from Step three. Pull the cord tight so the beads fit snugly together.
Step five: Repeat Step four on the left cord end. This should create a half-circle shape comprised of seven oval beads.
Step six: Pull the right cord end through the top right oval bead and the left cord end through the top left oval bead.
Step seven: String the following pattern onto each end of the cord to complete the necklace:
three TOHO's
one oval bead
four TOHO's
one tube bead
Repeat the pattern of four TOHO's and one tube bead five more times.
Step eight: Tie a square knot and trim any excess cord.
