Escape to a tropical garden when you create this necklace laced with luscious green and purple accents. This lightweight, extra-long style is as cute and carefree as the Hawaiian paradise it's named after.
Step one:
Cut the silver-plated flat oval cable chain into the following pieces:
two 1-inch strands
one 1.75-inch strand
one 2.25-inch strand
one 3.25-inch strand
one 4-inch strand
three 4.5-inch strands
Step two:
Attach one 075x6.85mm sterling silver open jump ring to each acrylic forest green American elm leaf pendant and each acrylic olive wavy flower petal pendant. For help on how to use jump rings, watch our Handy Tip video in the Learning Center.
Step three:
Connect the following leaf and flower petal pendants to these chain strands:
one elm leaf to one end of each 1-inch strand
one elm leaf to one end of the 1.75-inch strand
one wavy flower petal leaf to one end of the 2.25-inch strand
one elm leaf to both ends of the 3.25-inch strand
one wavy flower petal to both ends of the 4-inch strand
one elm leaf to both ends of one 4.5-inch strand
one wavy flower petal to both ends of two 4.5-inch strands
Set these aside.
Step four:
Thread three sterling silver 24 gauge, 1-inch head pins with one TOHO 8/0 bead round in silver-lined lavender opal and three TOHO 8/0 bead rounds in silver-lined alabaster. Thread six more head pins with one silver-lined lavender opal round and four silver-lined alabaster rounds. Finish each head pin with a simple loop.
Step five:
Connect two head pins with four silver-lined alabaster rounds and one head pin with three silver-lined alabaster rounds to a single 2-inch silver-plated 20 gauge eye pin to create a cluster. Repeat this step for the remaining head pins.
Step six:
Thread one acrylic medium purple ruffled lily bead and one acrylic large white orchid bead onto each eye pin and finish each with a wrapped loop. Set these aside.
Step seven:
Cut a strand of jewelry wire approximately 43 inches long using a nipper tool. String a pattern of thirteen silver-lined alabaster rounds, two TOHO 8/0 bead rounds in luster black diamond/opaque yellow-lined, one silver-lined lavender opal round and two more black diamond/opaque yellow-lined rounds. Repeat this pattern across the entire strand, incorporating the leaf chain accents and flower eye pins in a random fashion to create an asymmetrical look.
Step eight:
Finish the necklace by threading each end of the jewelry wire through a single sterling 2x2mm crimp tube and crimping it. Make sure the ends run parallel to ensure an even crimp. If you need help using crimp tubes, read our Handy Tip in the Learning Center.
