Feathers are a hot trend right now, and you can make your own professional fashionable jewelry at home by following these simple steps! Play with colors by using any number of different feathers. This twist on the traditional dangle earring is sure to catch everyone's eye.
Step one: Choose a feather you would like to use; these can be purchased at craft stores or fishing supply locations. We chose pheasant feathers. Apply a small amount of E6000 glue onto the quill of the feather and place it inside one JBB 2mm sterling silver end cap ring. Clamp down with chain nose pliers for a strong hold. Step two: Using side cutters, cut the silver-plated 3-strand and 3 link chain into two equal pieces approximately 2.5 inches long. Make sure one end is the large oval link and the other end is the smaller round link.
Step three: Attach one 4.6mm sterling silver open jump ring to the large oval end of each chain and to the end cap ring. For help using jump rings, visit our Handy Tips video. Connect the jump ring attached to the end cap to the center loop of the JBB silver-plated pewter 3-strand multi-strand fancy end piece. Connect your other two jump rings to the remaining loops on either side of the feather.
Step four: Connect a sterling silver earwire with gold-filled ball to the top loop of the end piece using chain nose pliers. Repeat this process for the other earring.
