Haven Bottlecap Pendant Instructions Designed by Teri McCamish
Make your own unique pendant to use in your next necklace design with this charming bottlecap project! Play with images and color to come up with your own special twist on this simple and original design.
Step one: Cut out an image to fit inside your bottlecap. We chose one to reflect the feeling of our safe haven. Choose a couple of your favorite words from the Nunn Design transfer sheet to set atop your image to follow the theme. Follow the instructions on the package or for more help visit our Handy Tip in the Learning Center. Place the antique silver-plated heart outline charm on top of your image, slightly tilting it to the left.
Step two: Fill the bottlecap with Magic-Glos™ so it leaves a smooth surface across the top. Follow manufacturer directions. Place under a UV lamp and let it cure. This could take anywhere between 5 and 15 minutes depending on the thickness.
Step three: Use two-part epoxy to affix the TierraCast® rhodium "heart bail" glue pad so the flat side of the heart sits on top of the Magic-Glos™ and the bail loop hangs above the bottlecap. For more help using bail glue pads, visit our Handy Tips section.
Step four: Using your 5-minute two-part epoxy, glue your bottlecap to the Nunn Design antique copper-plated pewter large square tag and center it. Allow glue to dry.
Step five: Using your jewel setter, glue one Swarovski SS16 XILION rose flatback in Olivine to each corner of the square tag on either side of the stringing hole. Allow to dry. Attach the 8mm antique brass-plated open jump ring to the square tag's stringing hole. For help with jump rings, visit our Handy Tip video. Attach the 19mm antique brass basic gear link and 19x17mm brass heart with cutout charm to the 8mm jump ring so the heart charm sits in front of the gear link. Link the two 5.5mm antique brass plated 21 gauge open jump rings together and connect one of them to the Swarovski 10mm faceted heart pendant in Olivine AB. Attach the other to the 8mm jump ring so it hangs in front of the heart charm.
