With subtle touches of sparkling Swarovski crystals and intricate seed bead stitches hidden throughout, this holiday stocking makes a great gift for someone special.
You will need to purchase your own stocking to work with. These are available at craft stores among other places during the holiday season.
Step one:
Place a protectant underneath the white portion of the stocking to prevent the adhesive of the rhinestones from seeping through the fabric. We recommend using parchment paper or a fabric cutting board. Arrange the Swarovski 8mm diamond leaf hotfix rhinestones in Olivine, the Swarovski 10mm diamond leaf hotfix rhinestones in Olivine and the Swarovski hotfix XILION rose flatbacks in Light Siam onto the white portion of the stocking on one side to create holly berry designs. Warm up the BeJeweler® Pro® Ergonomic tool while you do this.
Step two:
Once you are satisfied with the arrangement, use the Bejeweler to glue the flatbacks to the fabic. For help using the BeJeweler Pro® tool, read our Handy Tip in the Learning Center. Allow glue to dry.
Step three:
Cut approximately 8 feet of white Nymo D thread and attach it to one #11 short beading needle. Thread the needle up through the bottom of the white portion of the stocking, then back down. Next, string twelve TOHO 11/0 bead rounds in opaque white, one TOHO 4mm magatama bead in opaque white and then twelve more 11/0 TOHO's onto the needle. Thread the needle back up through the stocking to create one loop. Continue this process until you have gone all the way around the stocking. Repeat this process again to create a layered effect. Tie off the stitch and trim any excess thread.
Step four:
Cut a new piece of Nymo thread approximately 2 feet long and attach to a needle. Stitch to the upper right corner of the stocking to create the hanging loop. String fifteen TOHO 8/0 bead rounds in opaque cherry and fourteen TOHO 6/0 bead rounds in opaque white onto the thread in an alternating pattern. Loop the needle back through the stocking to create a secure stitch.
Step five:
Attach the Hill Tribe Silver round bell to a new cut of Nymo thread approximately 10 inches long, thread through a needle, and then stitch to the toe end of the stocking. Allow the bell to slightly dangle.
