Lea's First Day of School - Jacket Instructions Designed by Cynthia Kimura
This summer the owner of Artbeads.com was lucky enough to have her family visit from halfway around the world. Her adorable niece Lea is heading off to kindergarten this year, and we just couldn't resist making her some back to school clothes!
We found this darling jacket at our local mall and embellished it with Swarovski hotfix rhinestones. It had some detailing on it already in pink, purple and silver so we chose to accentuate those colors with coordinating rhinestones. Use our jacket for inspiration but choose colors and quantities to suit your project.
Step one: Put something behind the area where you will be applying the rhinestones. When heated, the adhesive on the back of the rhinestones melts and can seep through the fabric.
Step two: Arrange the rhinestones. When you are happy with the placement of the stones, use the Bejeweler Pro Ergonomic to attach the rhinestones to the fabric. For help using the Bejeweler please visit the Handy Tips section in the Learning Center.
Step three: Use a #11 short beading needle and Silamide white thread to sew buttons onto the waistband.
