Golden Rule Instructions Designed by Cynthia Kimura
Gifting someone special with this fabulous necklace is a great start to following the Golden Rule! Learn how to make this necklace and find yourself inspired by the words on the golden charms at the center.
Step one: Cut a length of the satin Hamilton gold-plated 3+1 small round and oval link chain approximately 15 inches long. Add the Lassero gold-finish square TLC charm, the Lassero gold-finish round live charm and the Lassero gold-finish rectangle imagine charm to the center of the chain using three gold-filled 14K 6.1mm open jump rings. For help with jump rings, please see our Jump Ring Handy Tip Video.
Step two: Add the Swarovski 10mm Solaris flatback in Crystal Golden Shadow to the JBB antique copper-plated brass 10mm round crown bezel charm. Glue the flatback in place and fold the prongs of the bezel around it for added security. Add a jump ring to the bezel and set aside.
Step three: Cut a length of the hand-dyed silk jewel tones with dark purple edges ribbon approximately 6 1/2 inches long. See our Handy Tip for help with adding an end cap to the end of the silk ribbon. Use a 2-inch 20 gauge satin Hamilton gold-plated eye pin to wrap the end of the ribbon around and then slide on a JBB gold-plated pewter end cap. Slide a 3mm Blackberry pearl onto the eye pin and create a wrapped loop. See our Handy Tip for help with creating wrapped loops. Repeat this step for the other side of the necklace.
Step four: Cut a length of jewelry wire approximately 12 inches long. Attach one end to the end cap on one of your lengths of silk ribbon using a 14K/20 gold-filled 2x2mm crimp tube and a 3mm gold-filled crimp cover. Check out our Handy Tips for how to use a crimp tool and how to use a crimp cover for more help.
Step five: Add one end of your chain from step one to the jewelry wire. Then, follow this bead pattern:
One Swarovski 3mm Blackberry round pearl
One Swarovski 6mm mini round bead in Crystal Lilac Shadow
One TierraCast antique gold-plated pewter granulated bead
One Swarovski 4mm Chrysolite Opal faceted round
A granulated bead
One Crystal Lilac Shadow mini round bead
Repeat this pattern five more times, and then add the Solaris charm you made in step two. Make a mirror image of the bead pattern on the other side of the charm, add the other end of the chain and attach the end of the jewelry wire to the end cap on the other silk ribbon length using a crimp tube and crimp cover.
Step six: Finish the ends of the silk ribbon in the same way you did in step three. Wrap the ribbon around an eye pin and slide on an end cap. Create a wrapped loop around a jump ring and attach one half of the gold-filled medium barrel twist toggle clasp with ball end. Repeat this step for the other side of the necklace.
