Congratulations to Venice Wilkins!

Congratulations to Venice Wilkins, our Round 10 Jewelry Design Star! Beading has been in her blood since she was a child, but it was only a year and a half ago that Venice discovered bead weaving. She started out with Peyote stitch and then quickly moved on to more challenging patterns. Venice loves working with seed beads! Delicas are her favorite because they leave her designs with a fabric-like display. She does enjoy using chainmail techniques in her bead weaving, too, like she did in her winning "Retro Cuff" bracelet. In fact, this is her favorite design because it not only uses chainmail, but it also incorporates her favorite technique - the right angle weave. Venice and her sister (whom she got hooked on to jewelry design as well) have started selling the designs on their website, Velvet Needles. Here's what Venice had to say about her winning design: "This piece was inspired by a layer right-angle weave bracelet I saw in a book. It is an original design made with gold & silver duracoat beads, sterling silver jump rings and the hook & eye clasp I made by hand."
